Yes thank you I thought so...otherwise PHEV sales will be lousy.

    Good for PiP2 (I hope).
I recently re-posted an old Hybridcars.com post saying PiP2 needs to get like 11 eMiles with no ICE assist to qualify for CARB rules. So I am thinking PiP2 will be compliant. Maybe why PiP1 was canned. I see limited future for PiP2 without CA HOV, sorry.

I could think of other ways to design HOV program, eg; say 3-yrs access...so let's see what they do.

Agree, PIP would sale very poorly with out the HOV sticker.

When the HOV sticker limit was reached (before it was extended), back in May'ish 2015, sales tanked.

The brand new PIPs were selling for $24,000 before any incentives just unload these.

After the HOV stickers were extended, the prices went back up.

Also, a side note, the supposed 11 miles EV range (which I cannot obtain), is pathetic. I can get probably 9 mile range driving and accelerating very slowly, without turning on the air conditioning , heater, lights, or defroster.

One time I left the head lights on and the EV would deplete rapidly.

I'm foaming at the mouth. I planned to trade in my PiP in 2019 with 150,000 miles for a BEV with white decals that hopefully get extended. 2025? I'm going to push my PiP to 325,000 miles.

mmm - how does this new proposal mess up your plan or is foaming a good thing?

I believe foaming is a good thing :D

Hmm.. actually, more traditional sites define the phrase more negatively ("beside oneself" or "livid").. Urban Dictionary defines it in a way that I'm personally more accustomed to hearing it used (more like "drooling").. so I see the confusion

This would be a good reason to drop a down payment for a Model 3 =)

    Merged

The 85k cap on Green HOV Stickers will be removed, with unlimited allowed until the current expiration in 2019, so looks like you'll have to stick with your original plan. The bright side is you were right about the white decals getting extended, but I did not think they would get extended that far.

Not if it is a dog that could be rabid.
I believe that is what the phrase originally referenced.

Note for me personally PiP2 is probably ideal if I ever decide to plug-in, it's just with all the incentives for all-out big batt plug-ins it doesn't compete as well

Hope CARB requires more than 10 miles EV range to qualify for green stickers. 25 miles sounds good to me... or 10 kwh battery minimum.

    ^^^OMG you're so strict!!
That would probably kill PiP2 and FORD Cmax and Fusion energi sales as well. I think the rule is going to be 11 miles in the EPA test (current PiP only gets 6 miles before engine comes on).

Or it might get them to add more electric miles. People seem to be mad about two cars in the hov lanes, the tesla S and the prius. The prius as always has drivers clogging the lanes going slower than traffic should. People argue that it hurts people actually you know car pooling in the car pool lane. Adding insult to injury the 11 aer is puny, and toyota seems openly hostile to plug-ins in many ways. The only car that will be less popular going slow in the carpool lane than a prius phv is a mirai. On the tesla's well california is selling the carpool lanes to the rich that would buy the cars anyway.

California's 85,000 green carpool stickers are all gone - San Jose Mercury News
ideas - you get less than 12 miles, 1 year hov, less than 24 2 years hov, less than 50 ....3 years hov. more than 50 phev or more than 100 bev then 4 years :) I can understand that most prius phv buyers in california rated the hov sticker as important to the decission, what I don't understand is how only 11 miles makes the california air cleaner than the regular prius. With prii in california going less than 1/3 of thier miles in electric mode its not saving much oil either.

I like the idea of 3-yrs access this way everyone has to buy a new plug-in to keep the HOV. I am seeing as the whole purpose, promoting plug-in sales.

speed limits in the hov should be strictly enforced. after all, it's there for environmental reasons. getting somewhere quicker is the incentive. you don't like it, don't drive it.

Funny, the law for my state says that an EV in order to get an HOV sticker it has to have a max speed of 65 MPH and it has to primarily be an EV (so I'm guessing something like the Volt wouldn't qualify).

virginia is confusing. A volt or prius phv can get tags to use HOV on Dulles, but not I95, I395, I66.

    What state Zojja? MD?
Virginia is complex case free HOV mostly phased out for new owners except a few places and any hybrid will do here. CA maybe AZ only place I know plug-in is mandated for free HOV.

Yeah, MD. But honestly, I'd consider a HOV sticker for Dulles toll to be pretty useless, so that is quite perplexing.
