Long ago in a neighborhood far far away,

There was a 16 year old that just sold his first mustang restomod and the hearse he was driving around decided to blow a cylinder. So the next course of action? Buy a prius off his parents and a diesel truck to continue the restomod business on the side. upload_2016-2-11_11-22-4.png

This was the ole girl when I first got her, I saw this and asked myself "what can I do to make this car less boring"
A year rolls around and I get a job at a local tuning firm, and thats where the transformation started...
    upload_2016-2-11_11-58-53.png

As you can see, we mainly specialized in GT-R's. We also specialized in Supras (how I got my hands on my supra) so the knowledge of Toyota was strong with us.

    upload_2016-2-11_12-10-28.png

Surprisingly I was the only one at the shop that drove a car that could actually carry cargo (the life of working with high end sports cars, and your boss drives a Ferrari) so I was often carrying a set of tires, or carbon fiber body panels, or even entire engine blocks (managed to fit 2 VR38DETT blocks with headers in there one time). So naturally my boss wanted my car to represent the company in a positive manner. The first step was to plasti- dip everything. upload_2016-2-11_12-17-8.png

    upload_2016-2-11_12-17-36.png
    upload_2016-2-11_12-18-8.png

I first tried the neon green, and it looked pretty awesome actually. Having the driftwood colored gen 2 though made the neon a little hard to live with, so I changed it to the black and brown look later with purple emblems because I still wanted color. upload_2016-2-11_12-20-49.png

    upload_2016-2-11_12-21-57.png

The purple emblems changed to black after I realized that I would need to respray the purple plasti-dip every other week or so because it would become sun bleached (damn Texas heat and sun). I added the offset racing stripe because I had just sold all of my toys except the F-250 and the Prius to move off to college, and I really wanted the car to be less bland. upload_2016-2-11_12-25-21.png

    upload_2016-2-11_12-25-56.png
    upload_2016-2-11_12-26-24.png

I tried giving the racing stripe some JDM flair and throwing the Toyota racing logo in there, but needless to say it turned out like crap.
    upload_2016-2-11_12-26-50.png
    upload_2016-2-11_12-28-25.png

So the Prius had a stripe, and I felt really cool....Until I realized how much it screamed "RICER!!!", so I knew that I needed to put performance mods on it to accompany the stripe. Give the stripe some substance, you know?

So I came on to the forum and looked at what everyone was doing to their gen 2's and saw some really awesome stuff being done (cue the "it's a whole new world" song). So I started out with something simple the GTA bluetooth set up.

I felt so accomplished doing this simple mod and the fact that it worked, and thats when I got the "mod the crap out of the prius" virus. I installed a LED light bar behind the grill a couple months later.

    upload_2016-2-11_12-41-16.png

Then I decided to get into the more traditional mods, like all of the braces, the strut tower brace, the underbrace, and the tranny tunnel brace.
    upload_2016-2-11_12-42-19.png

    upload_2016-2-11_12-42-34.png
    upload_2016-2-11_12-42-54.png

Then I did the headlight retrofit which was a total pain in the nice person, but has been worth the struggle 100%

    upload_2016-2-11_12-45-49.png
    upload_2016-2-11_12-46-19.png

The headlight retrofit includes switchback halos, morimoto H1's, and RGB demon eyes all from the folks at TRS who were awesome in helping me get it all together.

The roof rack and cargo bin were add ons for the car to make it more rally ready (since I do actually race it now), They take a hit on my MPG but its totally worth it.
    upload_2016-2-11_12-51-45.png

I also put 4 point harnesses in so I could be legal for a beach rally ( they are sticklers for safety)
    upload_2016-2-11_12-53-27.png
and that would be my Copilot Sid the skeleton.

Then I decided I wanted a new stereo system because I play bass and just wasn't hearing it in the stock base model system.
    upload_2016-2-11_12-55-18.png

So I got an entire kicker set up with a 3700 watt BOSS audio amp with a pioneer double din display.

    upload_2016-2-11_12-56-28.png

Took my friend and I 9 tedious hours to install everything, but it works like a champ.
    upload_2016-2-11_12-57-50.png

Stay tuned for the next project, which is Ksport coilovers, Hella horns, and a Sun Hyperforce system.

It's far more than I would ever do (I stopped after installing new horns and a mid-chassis brace), but I admire your enthusiasm!

replace the wimpy stock sway bars. you will love the difference almost as much as the killer sound system. say goodbye to excessive body roll.

I plan on replacing the stock sway bars soon, I did just spend a bundle on the coilovers so I gotta cut the spending for a bit (still a half broke college kid). I will probably do those over the summer though, after classes die down. Wanna redo the exhaust as well.

front sway bar is cheap from the junk yard off a corolla or matrix 2003-08. even the stock corolla rear sway bar is better than the prius bar.

yeah the front is 24mm vs like 19 for the stock bar. don't forget to grab the frame mount bushings with the bar. I think I paid $45 delivered from ebay. you might get a better deal if you pull it yourself.

I'm routinely impressed and humbled by the amount of skill and dedication some people are able to apply in creating unique personal expressions through their vehicle.

If I get my seat cover on straight I take it as a WIN! .....

Half-broke college kid? With an R32 GT-R and a FD3S (your sig is mistyped)? An FD alone would bankrupt me (I can't DIY apex seals) from all the service. Also is that audio stuff removable? 'Cause all that weight is gonna hurt your lap/stage times.

I'm really interested in how you wired in the light bar - I'm really interested in putting one on my car.

I actually sold the FD3S and the R32 when I moved to my apartment (not enough space for the toys). The sub easily disconnects when I go to race to save on weight, I also take out the back seat too. The light bar was super easy to wire up, I bought a rocker switch with an included harness which just consisted of grounding the switch, connecting the positive and putting the red to red from the switch to the bar and the black to black. Where were you planning on putting yours? because it was the mounting that was the real pain in the nice person for me.

Rock on, thanks! Did you keep stock Corolla bushings? or did you get Poly bushings?

So the Hella horns install went without any issues. It is a simple plug and play procedure. However it does involve taking off the bumper. I love the way the red horns look behind the grill and the tone of these horns make the stock horns seem so wimpy and apologetic. The install was super easy and you don't even need a relay because they are replacing the stock horns. I will upload pictures of the install and the finished product as soon I can. Definitely an affordable mod I recommend to any Prius owner.

I used the corolla bushings. the poly bushings might squeak and the oe bushings are nearly as hard as poly. I actually did buy the polys and decided not to use them.

Rad, I have dealt with poly bushings before and they are great. However, with the sand and off road driving I do with the rallies would just require constant greasing of the polys.

My plan was to stick the light bar right in front of the grille and pull the bumper cover and drill holes to mount it. I just have no idea where to tap the power from. I was also looking into a couple of LED strips to mount right in front of (and replace) the fairly dim fog lamps.

I tapped power from the jump start point in the fuse box behind the drivers side headlight, and grounded it to the hood latch sensor.

Good to know - that sounds like it'll draw 150W OK. Is the jump start point fused (cause you know, stuff happens)?

It doesn't seem to be fused, the wiring harness I got for the light bar has a 10 amp fuse in it already with an installed relay as well.
