I'm probably not 1st, please link me to them if so.

I did a fillup until gas overflowed, but the gauge indicates 3/4 full.

The gen 2 "guess" gauge is quite notorious for displaying other than actual fuel level. Being that yours is way off it's meds, I'd try an inclinometer reset, per post #8 here:

Gas gauge didn't show empty | PriusChat

I've enjoyed your recent gen 1 Insight musings, thanks, and sorry for your loss.

I do park on a 15-degree incline, so would that be the primary suspect?

i don't think so. i think the gauge just reflects what the bladder is doing. it's like looking into an old man's eyes when he has to pee.

So, in the future, should I just fill until there is a click at the pump?

I also noticed Bill Merchant has an article on resetting the fuel gauge sensors.

yes, first click, you can round if you want to. when you get some tankfuls done, you'll have a feel for mpg's and how many gallons are in the tank.

I filled up a day ago (to a click or two), and the fuel gauge now indicates full.

I use the Trip B on the ODO as a reminder when to fillup, just in case.
