    hi experts
this is not a new problem......it has been there for about 6 months....i own a 3rd gen and i feel the steering bit heavy (actually not soft) to steer compared to other toyota models...the tyre is 215 45 r17.....is it bcause of the tread width of the tyres?....can the steering tightness be adjusted technically at some point....
    thanx in adv

I can't compare to other Toyota models, but I will say the steering is a little heavier than some other Fords, Nissans and Mazdas that I have driven. Not sure if there is an adjustment or not. Check with your local mechanic.

Best of luck to you. (y)

Yes. The steering does feel heavier with the 17's. When we had two Prii, the difference was evident when switching from one, with 15's, to the other...

We've just switched over, from 195/65R15 snow tires, to the OEM 215/45R17's, not a noticeable difference in steering effort. See if a dealership has a 15" loaner/demo you can try, for comparison.

It would not hurt to do a full alignment and check all the suspension components. Off-center steering is not normal.
