there is a unit called a Metra Axxess that will interface with your steering wheel buttons. if you have nav, you most likely have the JBL. look under your rf seat for the jbl power amp if your not sure. if you have the JBL, there's something called a tyto or tato or something to make the new head unit interface with the JBL amp. make sure the scosche kit does include an adapter harness with a 68ohm resistor, if not you will need the harness too.

if your gonna pay someone to install it, make sure the guy isn't a hack. there are definitely some butcher installers out there. myself, I want all my connections soldered and shrink wrapped.

I'm sorry, but I didn't quite get all that. There's a reason why my name says "noob" in it. Could you please tell me what I'd need to buy? If worse comes to worse, I guess I can have a single DIN install..

Bear in mind that I'm in the UK too, in case that mean any thing :)

    Thanks so this:

METRA AXXESS ASWC-1 UNIVERSAL FIT AFTERMARKET- STEERING WHEEL CONTROL ASWC | eBay

    ?

Would this still work for UK cars?

    Oh and:

Toyota Prius 04-09 ISO Adaptor Lead Wiring Car Radio Harness Connector | eBay

Apologies for the length of time this has taken. shift work means I don't really get much time, except on my days off :)

that is the metra axxess, so it should work. the harness doesn't appear to have the 68 ohm resistor in it, so I don't think it will help. I believe the adapter harness I had in my '04 was made by scosche. try crutchfield.com. they might not ship to the UK, but they should be able to help you find the right bits.

Thanks. I've sent em an email :)

BTW, what about the fascia itself? Don't I need to change the current fascia?

As 69Shovlhead stated, if you go to crutchfield and select a double-din radio, it will give you a list of what you would need to make that work with your car, including the faceplate, and adapters.

According to Crutchfield, you will need the following. Also note that it state that the vehicle navigation will not work (I'm assuming you will lose the turn by turn voice guidance, but I'm not sure since I have not put a new radio in my Prius. I'm just getting ready to install one in my older Mazda MPV since the CD player keeps skipping. (I'm going to order through Crutchfield since they give a nice discount to the below items when purchasing a radio there as well.)

    Dash Kit: Metra 95-8240B

Wiring harness for JBL equipped Toyota Prius: Metra TYTO-01

Steering Wheel control adapter: PAC SWI-RC

I've linked to ebay since that is what you were using. I just chose the first seller to show the part, not endorsing them.

Thanks and apologies this was late, but I would like to keep the satellite navigation. Is there no way that can be retained :(

I don't know that answer. Best bet is to talk to Crutchfield and ask. They have a very good customer service dept. It may be just the steering wheel button for map may not work anymore.

    SM-N900P ?

steering wheel buttons will all work with the metra axxess unit. I don't see why a better head unit will affect the nav.
