Need a nationwide recall in order to get mine fixed. Crossing my fingers!

There's really no excuse for CV joints to EVER fail in the lifetime of a car absent damaging the protective boot.

    This is sad indeed.

But the boots eventually fail even if undamaged.

Yes, but not anytime soon. Maybe AFTER 200K at most. If they are failing sooner than that, it's a design flaw. I've not seen any GOOD car with CV joints suffer failure from ordinary wear and tear.

I am having the same issue with mine. Slowing while turning right, the clicking is there. Every time this scenario it happens-as exiting the freeway while looping around for example. It's at the dealer for the 3rd time for this issue and a few others. Shop foreman went for a ride while I drove. He heard it, but said it was intermittent and it was not in their best interest or mine to keep it in the shop to try to pin point the problem-primarily for money. He states that they are in the business to make money. lol. Yes..his exact words. I recently moved to a rural area and had to drive over an hour to get to dealer. Since I am not familiar with the roads by dealer, I wasn't able to have the car recreate the noise every time. If I was in LA, it would not have been a problem w/all of the canyons curvy roads and I know where it happens every time. So, I gave it to them for the week since I am not able to get back until next weekend. Fingers crossed they spend time on it. I believe that's the issue-they do not want to take the time to diagnose for fear that it may not be worth their time. That's the feeling I'm getting. Still have another year on ext warranty 20k miles. Hope to get this done before then, if they don't fix, I'm selling.

They're not doing it for free. TMC is paying the dealers for warranty work. That's why they keep all the defective parts.

Right but they are not especially keen on hunting for a prob for 5 hours that the job pays for 2.5 hrs by Toyota. In my exp anyway, here in SoCal. When I speak to them I will mention the cv joint/axle shaft as potential cause.

Hello. I'm having the same issue-clicking and the brake concern over bumpy roads. Did your repair fix everything? Thanks

Nah it's more of a tick sound. Had a service mgr hear it once and pointed to the power steering pump but said it was just a guess. He couldn't locate it. The car creates weird sounds overall but this is dif than normal braking noises.

I believe there is no pump. It's electric.

My 2012 does the same thing. Honestly very surprised by Toyota. My 2005 has original CV axles at 291,500 miles and still smooth and quiet! I will take my new Prius in and see what they say.. Come on Toyota!

Mine is still doing this at 75k miles. Haven't had any issues but will continue to drive it until a problem shows up. Dealer basically said since I'm out of power train warranty I'm SOL

To add to the insult my work truck is a 2013 with 97k miles of which 80k is towing 8000lbs + and off road with 3 accidents and no issues other than chewed fuel line and we haven't exactly been on top of the maintenance.

Shouldn't that be covered under the 5 year 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty?

I'm over the mileage part and even though it was documented and one axle was replaced they don't care. Toyota corporate was no help either

Well darn! At least you know what it is, and if you ever need to get it replaced it wouldn't be a huge deal
