@elsupermang Do u happen to have any pics of the plugs on ur Prii when u took urs out?

Can anybody confirm if they've been able to install this in a 12+ with technology package?

All I've seen is non-JBL & a few JBL installs.

I've been following this thread and just registered because I ordered one of these head units off Aliexpress, however they sent the wrong color (it's the lighter grey/silver color, I needed black). Going back and forth with Aliexpress and they want me to pay return shipping to have it refunded, which is about 1/3 the cost of the unit. Would anybody here be interested in the unit?

That sounds like a better match for my '14. Settled on a black one cause I'm a settler. When I was looking, they all were black. Hope you find someone that's interested. It would be a faster delivery for them also.

My model has the heads up display on the windshield for speed, engine use, and GPS directions.

Wasn't sure if that was tied to the head unit or some other computer system.

I like that HUD!! Is it visible like that during daylight hours or is it a night time thing?

They are visible any time of day. Has three modes: speed, speed with engine use, and GPS. Much more comfortable to glance at than the main one above the center console. I would hate to lose it by switching to a different head unit. If I only lost the GPS I'd consider it though. I rarely use the HUD for directions since the built in maps are so terrible.

    Good morning to all,

I post my first message in the forum since , it is a big instant :p.

It has been a while since I go through this thread and others with a view to acquiring a factory style gps HU.

Some of my questionings stay without answer, I take therefore the liberty of soliciting you.

I have 3rd gen Prius of 2009. I have an ampli theoretically 8hp and under the passenger seat. The car radio is standard, Bluetooth is of series and I also have the reversing radar (taken optionally, I assume, by the ancient owner).

I plan to take this model:

[URL ='Livraison gratuite 8 polegada Quad Core 1024 * 600 android voiture dvd gps navigation pour Toyota Prius dvd LHD Radio Miralink WIFI Prius android dans DVD pour voiture de Automobiles et motocyclettes sur AliExpress.com | Alibaba Group free polegada Quad Core Delivery 8 on 1024 * 600 android navigation car dvd gps for Toyota Prius dvd LHD Radio Miralink WIFI Prius android in DVD for car of Cars and motorcycles on AliExpress.com ¦ Alibaba Group [/URL]

    Here are my questions:
    • That think of you of the model (there are too many choices, I get lost there a bit)?

    • is it a real plug and play?

    • confirm you to me that I do not need CANBUS?

    • I read many articles (that I do not have including forcing) relating in the course of reverse for the installation of a camera of detachment. I do not envisage this installation. On the other hand, would I have manips to be made concerning the radar of detachment, or to connect the connector cable in which is the concerned thread will be sufficient?

    • An external microphone is linked with the package. Is it necessary (I believed I understood that there was also an internal microphone located in facade of the device)?

    • What are your recommendations for the GPS antenna, or and how can I fix it (I do not like to pull of cable, I plan, in the worst, to make her arrive in my current Yatour in passenger glove box)?

    • There is External RCA cable also. Is it really necessary to connect them if I did not change the audio installation?

    • Last question (noob question): how to instal Waze (I do not know Android and even less android in a vehicle)?
I am conscious to come with a packet of questions, but I prefer asking them entirely from the first time.

Thank you for the time which you will take to read me and to answer me.

See you soon on the forum and in hybrid :)

Excuse my dirty english, im french an i use a translator for this long message...

    Peace love and unity :)

I sometimes wonder if the car manufacturers should just let us just place our smart phones in the head unit instead of the car coming up with a crappy head unit. Nothing can come close to the smart phones and the phones upgrade faster than our cars.

Having said the above, keep your eyes on the roads lol

I am about to pull the trigger on a unit from alibaba. I have the 2010 Prius V with the JBL navigation system. The unit on alibaba says "Note: It's not suitable for the car with original navigation system or amplifier." but it seems like the exact same unit everyone else has bought. I just need the canbus connector, right? This is my first post here or I would link the unit directly. It looks to be listed under store 1123108 if that helps you look it up yourself. That is Shenzen 360Navi Electronics. Hopefully everyone is still enjoying their systems, since this thread was started in 2015.

The display on mine is not as bright as it used to be. Also on cold mornings I have trouble opening apps that are located on the SD card. Might be a problem with the SD card and not the unit itself but not sure. I am considering getting a new 5.1 version. I really do like the Android unit.

The one I am looking at is the 5.1.1 version. My main concerns are the backup camera and microphone that came with the car. I would like to use those if at all possible since they work and I don't want to run wires all over for things that are already there. Oh, and the aux input, too. I use that more than anything else. It sounds like having the JBL nav unit is more of small nuisance than a real problem with upgrading. Worst case scenario is I take the new unit and my car to the car audio place down the street and let them install it.

I chose to install a different backup camera that was 12v instead of the OEM 6v. Paid about 20 buck on ebay and it was a direct replacement for the OEM camera. Tapped into the reverse lights for power. Plugged into the radio's RCA plug. A YouTube search found me a installation and cable installation video. Pretty simple as all the trim panels just snapped off and on. Mine is not a JBL but as I understand all that is needed is an optional CanBus adapter supplied by the vender.

The supplied mic sucks. I installed an android unit in my Suburban and did not connect the mic as the supplied cable was too short. It works fine with the mic on the face of the head unit.

The mic that I already use that came with the Prius is fine, so I want to use that mic instead of whatever comes with the unit. Is that possible?

OK. I have had two different sellers, one from alibaba and one from ebay, tell me that because I have the Prius V with the JBL navigation system these units won't work in my car, even though their listings specifically mention that I will need a canbus if I have the JBL sound system. That can't be true, right? Am I stuck with the stock system in my car? I need some guidance.
