    Riding shotgun in a DIY self-driving car
    Assuming that all the bugs have been worked out. The system is able to receive OTA updates to add new features. Would you do it? I would.

    Crowd sourcing the the AI training is an interesting approach that might make this work. The others have been relying on their own fleet of test vehicles(Google), or installed the hardware on production cars to gather the training data from consumers(Tesla).

    I am thinking of developing a system for a self driving car that is a bit different than Elon's. I will equip the car with cameras and LTE, post the sensor/camera feed(s) to a live auction driver site (in India, for instance) where "drivers" would bid for the job. Fly by wire hardware, adaptable to any make or model, would be used to control the car. Sit back and enjoy!

    Took a look at the NHTSA questions, and they could be easily answered if the company had done enough testing to cover their own nice person if a car equipped with it crashed.

    gotta give nhtsa credit for being proactive. it's one thing to hack phones and video games, but if you wanna play in the big leagues, you have to follow the rules.
