I just got a 2016 and now I need to sell my 2005 with 155k. What's a fare price? I don't want to screw anyone. I will discouraged the mechanically helpless as the car has some issues. These will be fully disclosed to potential buyers.
    • Dents and scratches.
    • Loud exhaust.
    • Check engine light is on due to a P0446 evap vent control circuit. I replaced the gas cap and that didn't fix it.
    • When it rains I get the message /!\ Caution The transmission P lock mechanism is abnormal. Doesnt stop it from running. I purchased a parking pawl actuator from a salvage yard, but haven't put it in yet. That might fix it or it could be in the wires.
    • Only one SKS fob.
One the plus side the battery is strong, even voltages, even impedances. The tires are good. The car has nav.

Kelly Blue Book puts the car at $3,119. Kelley Blue Book

I was thinking on $1,500. Am I crazy, crooked, or close?

From what I have seen on Craigslist around here is the problematic ones try to sell for 1000 -2000. I would place it for $2k obo for a week and see what offers you get.

    • Dents add character. No need to fix.
    • To fix the evap system means replacing it. An aftermarket canister could be had for around $300. Installation requires dropping the tank so probably $450 in labor.
    • An aluminized exhaust could be put on for about $300.
    • The p-lock message might be fixable for free since I already have the part.
    • If you want a second SKS fob it's about $275. If a non-SKS fob works for you you could get one cheap on eBay and do the chick dance programming yourself. Darn near did this.
A savvy bottom feeder with a scan tool wouldn't fix anything. You can have one monitor not ready here in NY for inspection.

$1500 is a fair price. It's what a car would probably sell for at auction. You still have the valuable parts that work

    1. inverter
    2. engine
    3. transaxle
    4. battery
    5 catalytic converter
    6. navigation screen
    7. and many others

I think you should list the car for $2,500 on Craig's List and accept the best offer down to $1,500.

if you don't want to screw anyone, make your ad just like your first post. people are free to offer what they think is fair. i would still start at 3k.

hey, bob wilson sold his gen 1 to his housekeeper for five hundred bucks. i'm not sure he showed her the 'who should not own a gen 1 prius' thread.

I'm almost 100% sure my Dad would be interested for $1000-1500... He loves my Prius and is looking to get one to buzz around town in. Do you think it can be driven to Michigan as-is?
