    In the U.S.A.. I think it's the only country to offer Sea Glass Pearl.

    Yeah it's quite a bit more reflective than the Gen 3's matte screen surface.

    Consumer Reports recommends 2016 Prius Three with Advanced-Technology Package over all other 2016 Prius models, including the Touring models:

    "Most Prius models are available with a comprehensive suite of active safety systems, called Toyota Safety Sense-P (TSS-P). This includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Unfortunately, you can't get TSS-P on the Prius Two or Two Eco. It's optional on the Three and Four by ordering the Advanced Technology package, and TSS-P comes standard on the Three Touring and Four Touring. We recommend shoppers go for the Prius Three with the Advanced Technology package. Not only do you get the important safety items, but this package also includes a color head-up display and a power sunroof, neither of which are available on the Touring models."

    Yeah I would agree. It's reasonably priced at $28,000++ and you get the upgraded interior, Li-Ion battery, spare tire, 3-dr SKS, nav, SofTex-wrapped steering wheel (that's thermally regulating) as well as the goodies in the ATP like TSS-P, moonroof and HUD.

    I know people are complaining about the top end (why can't I get a HUD in the Touring model. Yeah, why can't you?) but if there's a well-packaged, well priced Prius, it's the Three w/ ATP imho.

    What the foxtrot!!! Why would Toyota leave out the colour HUD from the Touring model? What crazy bean counter came up with that idea? That defies LOGIC!
    (And there I was, secretly hoping some "Carbon Creek" Vulcan like 'Mestral' had been moonlighting at Toyota and played a major role in the design of the 2016 Prius - it does look decidedly Vulcan in design - looks like I was wrong; no self respecting Vulcan would allow a such a.......human error of this magnitude!)

    I wonder how many Touring sales they're gonna loose for just that reason?

    lol. Well just like the Gen 3, people will have to decide what they want more - moonroof/HUD or 17" alloys, LED foglights and Touring spec suspension.

    In Canada, we only get one model of the Touring and it's the equivalent of the Three Touring in the U.S.. The bigger issue here is people wanting a moonroof option with the Touring model. Oh and weirdly enough, it's the only model without heated front seats (the base model can be optioned with heated front seats. Wth)

    Probably posted already, but here is a Japanese test (translated with Google) with comparison between a Gen3 with 15" and 2 Gen4s with 15" and 17" wheels. The fuel consumption they have found (scroll to the tables in the middle and end of article) and essentially showing zero to "up-to" 20% fuel consumption reduction.

    Only on the 'mountain' road did the 17" come in slightly better but the difference is very small, 17.7 (17") vs 17.5 (15"). We know the biggest effect of a larger wheel diameter are the inertial changes. I suspect the mountain climb and descent had the fewest speed changes and the lowest inertial losses.

    Even in the broken English translation, there are some key points

    • Big difference in interior appointments between the 3rd and 4th Gen (even though the 3rd Gen was a rental with 50,000km on the clock)
    • Uphill climb, the fuel economy is very minimally improved from generation to generation (FE was about 41-42 US mpg)
    • On the highway at 50mph, the increase in FE is over 30% (75 US mpg or 83 US mpg vs. 62 US mpg)
    • On the track, there's a difference in handling between the 15" and 17" model but on public roads, the 15" model is fine

    My hypothesis on the lack of HUD and sunroof on the Touring is that it's intentionally to make it less desirable, so that Toyota doesn't have to report the fuel economy hit that the 17" wheels cause, by selling over 33% as Tourings.

    Summary



    @pakitt , according to the article

    They achieved 6.1L/100km at 135km/h on the highway, a bit better than the 3rd Gen Prius (They got 4.1L/100km overall with temps that didn't break 15°C)

    How does that compare with your experience with the 3rd Gen Prius on the autobahn? (And hopefully you can give us your experience with the 4th Gen after the break-in period).

    The second review is excellent! First one I see after all the pretty useless video reviews I have seen of people essentially reading the press release. BTW the guy mentions that the leather seats are in fact Soft-tex - which means no dead cows also in EU, which is good news and it shows that they are not offering a non-sense non environmental option for a very environmental friendly car! I don't understand why then they sell it here in Germany under the "leather" name and not "soft-tex"...

    Regarding video 3, the MFD says about 53, they measure 50, that's about 6% offf, which is the same in Gen3. Same logic between Gen4, Rav Hybrid *and* Gen3... :D
    PS: 50MPG going 75mph, which was probably more like 70-72 (I don't know how accurate speedometers are set for US market; in EU typically they are almost, stupidly, 10% off) and getting 50mpg, "easy" - I want to see what it does at *real* 130km/h-81mph (average allowed speed on most highways in EU) speeds - soon on this channel ;)
