Interesting. Does it say the range of years covered? Gen 3 only?

It would be great if you would you post a copy of your letter, with personal information masked.

    Thanks!

I received mine shortly after the campaign to reprogram the inverter. I did just receive a warranty extension on the EGR system for cold start knocking. Among other things I see that my car is a candidate for side curtain air bag and replacement if affected. No parts are available at this time. I don't expect they will have anything available in the near future. I just hope I don't need to rely on them in the mean time. BTW, my car is a 2012

I hope the air bag problem is revealed by a trouble light, rather than it's not working when needed!

Thanks, mojo, for adding that info. I guess my Gen II is on its own.

The airbag problem is revealed by the curtain shield airbag partially inflating while the car is parked in the sun. I don't think a warning light will be necessary, you'll notice if it happens. ;)

The plan for the recall is to install a retaining clip on the inflator chamber, which has a weld that can crack and separate over time (I think generally when the car is parked in a hot location, which increases the pressure inside the chamber). The retaining bracket will keep the inflator itself from entering the passenger area of the car, where it could cause injury. (Apparently of the seven incidents where this has happened, only once did the inflator fly out of its location.)
