I have a 2007 Prius. I took my car to get the brakes fixed @ 160,000 miles. When it came home, the brakes worked wonderfully. The only problem was that they did not clear all of the codes, the circle with an exclamation mark through it, the check engine light, the red triangle with an exclamation mark through it and the car with an exclamation mark through it. I took it back and they kept it all day and returned it with horrible brakes (that could easily cast my body through the windshield with the slightest pressure), all of the lights indicated above and more lights. They included the BRAKE light and the ABS light. Then, they told me that I would have to replace my hybrid battery before the codes would go off. They said that the brakes are tied to the hybrid battery and when they were trying to clear the codes, they must have kicked the brakes back to the factory settings and that's why the new lights came on and why the brakes were sooooooo grabby.

I saved money for a month and got it replaced this morning. After that was fixed, the brake codes would not clear, the brakes were still grabby, the air conditioner still did not work and my cruise control still did not work. Only the red triangle with an exclamation mark through it and the check engine light disappeared. I took it back to the place where I got the brakes fixed. Now they say the ABS Actuator needs replacing.

I believe in my heart that they must have shorted out that part when they "kicked the brakes back to the factory settings." Is that a possible explanation?

I had the brakes repaired at Louetta Automotive and the hybrid battery was done by Home Town Hybrids.

i think you might be able to get reimbursement from toyota.

talk to hometown hybrids about it, they're pretty knowledgable. did they test your battery, or just replace it?

They tested it first and then replaced it with a reconditioned battery.
