    Hi all,

We in EU does not have spare tire in trunk, we have compressor kit instead. I'm planning to throw out compressor kit and mount spare tire instead.
I'm wondering can I just buy standard 15" alloy 195/65/15 and mount in trunk or I need to buy some special Toyota models (t.ex. 125/70/16 donut) to fit in trunk ?

My car came with a space saver spare, and it's a tight fit, so I don't think a standard size tire/wheel would fit.

My JP Gen3 Prius (195/65R15 standard) has T135/80D16 spare tire.

    Hi Spooky,

A regular 15" won't fit. I learned this when I had to swap out a flat for my spare and realized that my OEM 15" did not fit in the wheel well. (both the diameter and width of the wheel were larger than what the well is designed)

The reason you have "D" rings and the nylon strap is the -flat- tyre you just removed won't fit where the spare donut came from. It must be strapped down on the hatch floor. So no, a regular wheel/tyre won't fit under the hatch floor. Now, if you want to try, deflating it might help, but it will still be very tight!

Thank you all for answers, even "donut" spare tire will be better than compressor-kit.

I got the space saver spare tyre just recently to replace the repair kit.
