I have a fresh full tank. So this morning I zeroed out everything. Used the little reset button on the steering wheel to clear the ODO mpg, and Trip A mpg, and Trip B mpg. And then went into the large center stack touch-screen, in the Eco settings, and zeroed out/reset all the "history" and trip info. (Probably just gave Kevin an anxiety attack? :ROFLMAO:)

It's the only way for this Prius rookie to learn... just start pressing buttons! Ok, so after a few miles, all the zeroed out mpg numbers jumped right back up to 63-64. (ODO, A, and B.) After 30 miles driven, they all stayed at 63 mpg.

And when my tank is near empty, I will still be at 63 mpg. I guess Penelope likes to keep things simple.

But I'm certainly not complaining about 63 mpg. :) Wonderful!

While it's very interesting, I just find that, for me, it's less distracting and more enjoyable driving the car if I don't become too involved (obsessed?) with all the mpg histories and details. (Just the simple tank-to-tank mpg figure is fine.)

Great car! Unbelievable fantastic gas mileage, without even really trying. Any earlier minor complaints I had are long gone. (Now I just gotta lose some weight so I can fit in the thing! :ROFLMAO:)

Check page 123 of the users manual (not directed to the original OP, but why can't anybody do a PDF search (on the User's manual you can download in a few clicks from Toyota; they actually even give you the link)? or simply read the manual at least once?...

All trip meters can be reset individually by holding the trip button, only exception is the "Mileage since hybrid system was started" trip, which is automatically reset after every on/off cycle of the car.
I use the trips as follows:
    • ODO - lifetime (but I know that the summary screen for it, showing driving time and EV%, etc. will roll at 99hrs99mins - I have read somewhere here on PC)
    • A - current tank
    • B - current trip
    • "Mileage since hybrid system was started" - multi leg trip for trip B - this is nice to see the fuel consumption after a warm up cycle has been already done and you do a stop in between places - that's when the fuel consumption easily reaches 80mpg :) (otherwise currently typically around 60)
What I still didn't understand is the link between the "update" button of the media center and the MFD - refresh what and why? The manual is not addressing this satisfactorily:

"Updating the past record data - Selecting “Update” on the “Past record” screen will update the past record data. Also, the average fuel consumption displayed in the multi-information display will be reset at the same time."
    Which average fuel consumption?
I am not going to update anything... BTW - the screen of the media center is always off - it is mostly useless if you are not listening to music/radio (or have the navigation option). The MFD shows plenty of information with better graphics.

Yeah I haven't figured out the MFD's consumption screen yet and the "Update" button to update the record. It's been around since the 2007 Camry but since the Gen 3 didn't get the Energy Monitor and Consumption Screen on the MFD, Prius owners haven't had the chance to play around with it (well I suppose the Prius v would have it on the 7" MFD models).
