    Hey all,

Check hybrid system light came on and the whole dash lit up like a christmas tree. After i jumpstarted the 12v battery when it died. It was driving fine for about half an hour and all of a sudden the lights came on during acceleration from a stop light.

I've done some research and googling and it either might be the inverter coolant, the 12v battery, or a blown fuse. I am going to check all the fuses in the fuse box tomorrow. But if any of you have any insights or have experienced this due to battery failure, please let me know. My 2010 prius has always been taken care of and it has 105k miles on it. Any inputs or suggestions would be appreciated...

Please clarify, you jump started first, then got the message half an hour after the jump start?

Or you got the message with warning lights, then had to jump start because the battery died as well?

You're still on the original 12v battery?

I am still on the original 12v battery. And I did jump-started it first due to battery being dead, then i later got the message half an hour later while driving, after the jump-start.

Hard to diagnose just by symptoms. You need to get the error codes read.

If the car's under warranty take it to the dealer.

I suspect more than one problem. Does the 12v battery hold a charge? Easy money bet you need a new 12v.

Did you do the inverter recall? Is the inverter coolant pump working? Was the car towed?

If you have a blown fuse you have another problem you weren't counting.

My hunch is since you needed to jump-start you've still got a near-dead battery, and that's causing problems.

Yeah, check it first. That'll involve at least reading the at-rest voltage with a multimeter. It should be 12.4 to be marginal, 12.6 to be really healthy. Better would be a load test. A place that'll sell you a battery will likely also have an electronic loadtester. These are a new generation tester, will determine the battery's actual Cold Cranking Amps, and should report on it's likelihood of being recoverable. There's prosumer level tester available for DIY check, Solar BA5 for one.

You can also try charging it. Use a smart charger in the 4 amp range, let it run to completion.

@nicoj36 I am facing exactly same issue.
Lights came up after jump start but went away after 1 day and everything got normal but Happened again at the traffic lights. What was the fix for your vehicle?

I don't know if or when nico will see your question. Did you try doing what was suggested? Have the 12V battery tested? You sure seem to have the right symptoms for a dying 12V.

@jerrymildred Thanks for your reply. So far, I've tested the 12V battery and also tried disconnecting it for 5 mins. Please suggest what else should I try?
