I had the car on, cooling the car with the air conditioning on. I had to get out for a few minutes. So I left the car on, took the keys and tried to lock the doors after I got out. It wouldn't lock the doors.

Have you found this to be the case? Anyway around this?

bisco is right. I just tried it. But then slight panic when I couldn't unlock the door with the Fob. How come?

I had to use the small emergency key. (turn it to the right.)

Tried touching the handle. No go.
Tried the "unlock" button on the Fob. No go.
The window was all the way up.

I wonder why the Fob wouldn't unlock the door? And the door handle touch sensor quit working, too.
Be right back. Gotta go run another test.

I don't think I can operate the windows from the FOB. What package is that feature in?

Do we have a mechanical key in the GEN 4, like my Gen 2 had? I didn't see it on the door or FOB

The Windows can only be operated with the fob with additional programming. Like Carista

The mechanical key is inside the fob.

    Ok, 2nd test:
    Power on.
    All windows rolled up.
    Exited car.
Closed door. (Heard a few beeps.)
Locked door with the small mechanical key. (One turn to the left.) No need to go thru open window and hit lock button. :)

Waited a few minutes. tried to re-enter car, but door handle touch-sensor still didn't work. And pressing unlock button on the Fob didn't work. Had to use small key again to unlock driver's door (One turn to the right.)

That's ok. No problem. Now I know how to leave the power on (with AC on too, if I want) and leave the car. Thanks bisco and Kevin.

There's a tiny release switch, and the key is attached to that little key ring.

yes, - but not by default. It was something I asked them to do before I bought the car.

Occupant safety? Domestic violence protection, so an angry partner outside cannot extract a target inside for a direct assault? Logic lockout?

The car is not designed to be running and locked without an occupant and fob inside. Disabling the door unlocking function from external fobs is thus a logical and reasonable step.
