It would be interesting to hear reactions from people who were not familiar with the Prius. Since I have already read posts of our members stating they don't care for the "new look", I doubt that the new ad would change those minds.

We may never know the success of this ad when viewed by the person shopping for a new car.

Wait! was that guy washing his Prius? In California? With a hose!??! I'm pretty sure it's legal to shoot a guy on sight for such a violation out there.

I don't get the ads, they wouldn't inspire me to run out and buy one. What works for me is "hey, this car is cheap to buy cheap to own and cheap to operate! oh yeah and it drives ok, for an appliance." or "drive a prius on the weekdays so you can afford your fun car on the weekends."

either way I'm taking the hippie one and posting it to my facebook page because, well the jokes from my friends are starting to slow down a bit, this might give them some more fuel.

"For example, it's not a hatchback, which makes it less embarrassing and more practical. Toyota might say that te design was inspired by Lady Gaga, but I see none of that going on, which is not a bad thing."

I love the Lady Gaga reference (best description of the rear lamps I've heard to date!) but was unaware that somebody would be allowed to opine on a product that they knew nothing about.
    No hatchback?

I've heard Prius and sedan, with or without midsize, used in conjunction going back to the gen2. It is under the EPA designation of sedan for size class. The only other options there is two seater and station wagon for cars. Then the gen4's profile is much closer to to that of a sedan's than the previous two.

In regards to the article, I think the author's knowledge on the gen4 is limited to that commercial though.

definitions can be difficult sometimes, i suppose. i never heard of a sedan without a trunk though, but thats my definition.
