    Hello,
Safety issues made me start thinking about installing a Dash Cam. Choices are overwhelming, to say the least, especially since I don't need any special models, which brings me to my question:

Would I be able to re-use my current/standard parking camera (and maybe the display as well) in combination with new parts, and use it for continuos recording?

    Thanks!

Thanks! My '06 Prius came with a small rear view camera that turns on when transmission shifts to reverse. Video feed is then displayed on the central control/display unit.

I'm sure, with enough time and money, it could be done but so far my research leads me to believe it's not worth the hassle (and voiding te warranty) when very adequate video recording systems already exist. (and can be bought for under $100 - $150)

Good idea, since many new cars have front and rear cameras now, they should add a continuous recording function
