    Hi guys,
I bough an 05 Prius two weeks ago and I love it. However I'm now running into a strange problem that causes my odometer to not turn on when I start the car. I have to turn off the car and then unplug the 12v battery in the back and plug it back in after 30 seconds.

I've taken it back to the used car dealer that I bought it from and they informed me that this was a problem that they have seen before and replaced the 12v battery, but after two days with the replaced battery the problem started to happen again. At this point I don't really know what to do. The dealer I bought the car from wants me to drop off the car with them again so they can look into the problem.

Any advise on this issue would be great fully appreciated. Also another quick note the Maintenace required light just came on yesterday, could all of this be an oil issue? I was going to schedule an oil change appointment, but I figured I should wait until the dealer looks at the car again.

The maintenance reminder is the oil change light that starts up a bit before 5000 miles before it was last reset.

The real problem sounds like your combination meter is starting to go bad.

Thanks for this information. Any advise on what next step should be?

Take it back to the dealer and have them replace the combination meter, that is the odometer

This is not a battery issue, hopefully you still have the old battery
