    Hello Mert,
your unit is using the UI shell version 4.00.7.
There is a screen for the parking sensor but there are no options in the UI for changing the sounds.
Also, the sounds don't seem to be stored in the Windows folders so they are either generated by the hardware or by the firmware.
    That's all I could find.

Probably in the software because stock sound system parking sensor beeps is different. Wonder where the sound file?

    Sorry for bad English

Well the package you uploaded contains only the App and I9 folder.
May be the sounds are stored inside the other folders like StaticStore or NandFlash folders.
Take a look and let us know.

    Hi Manol,
Most probably, if EQ is not showing up it's because your radio unit hardware does not support the EQ function.
This is not software related; it's the radio chip that does the EQ work.
To be sure, find the appropriate MCUupdate program for your unit and check what the hardware report is reporting for the radio chip.
If it's a TEF6624 chip then it does not support EQ.

[/ Quote]

Hello, thanks for the answer. Where can I get this tool? (mcu update tool)
I search in google but can not find thx

Would be better to ask your vendor for the one specifically made for your car (is it a KIA?).

You can also try china-rns.com; they have a good collection of firmwares but I think it's mostly for european cars.

Last resort, you can also try one the latest MCU update tools; it should be able to run on your unit but the hardware report might not be always reliable.
If you decide to try a *not-your-brand* MCUUpdate tool, be careful not to set/write or update anything; that might brick your unit.

Hello greetings and salutations to all. I am new to this forum but i have been following this forum for some time already. Not until recently i have managed to gather to courage to fiddle with my player software. I have been stuck with the same standard issue player for 4 years and my main concern is that i can't seem to tune my eq to my liking as it lacks the 9 band setting.

Here is my player details and i would very much be delighted if you all could share some of your experience with me.

As i would not like to loose my current player functions like in build gps navi and the hassle of rewiring works by replacing with a branded unit, if possible i would appreciate if you can help give me a solution to my current dilemma.

Can my player OS or MCU be updated to enable me to have the 9 band equalizer function or is my unit the unfortunate 3 column sound setting unit.

Sorry for the long post, just thought it might be rude just asking for help unpolitely.

Thanks to all in advance. Also yes my car is a kia forte/cerato

    Hello Bornwilder,

yes, this radio chip should be capable of doing the graphic equalizer function (Audio is integrated in this chip)
So if you don't see EQ, there's a chance that your MCU version could be updated.

    1) Check with your Roadrover/Car vendor if they have a MCU firmware and/or shell update.
    2) If not, check with the fine German folks at china-rns.com (ask Strados); they might have a better version for you.
    3) You can also check at kiatech.com (USA); but it is not free anymore I think...

    Good luck!

    Hi Mottif,
the skin UI elements (buttons, scroll bar, etc...) describe BOTH the widget appearance AND its function.
So it is certainly possible to have different visuals and behaviors across skins.
Is it fixable in your case?
Depends on your 2 skins... Maybe they used 2 different set of widgets.
Or may be they were not meant to be used or are not well supported with shell 2.95.5.

To know for sure, you need to send us the 2 skins so we can take a look at the widgets.
If you do, please post them here because that might be of interest to others.

    Here are the 2 skins:
The one called "C5" is the one were the iPod lists are controllable from the wheel.
By the way, it's not only the list itself. The wheel scroll button moves through all the controls on the iPod interface, including the lists buttons, the forward & backward button and so on.
On the other skin, the wheel scroll button has absolutely no effect anywhere on the iPod interface.
    Other questions I have:
Are you aware of any higher shell version + skin were the iPod interface works properly?
Is any particular Road Rover unit + Manager.exe suitable to a specific car maker/model? My understanding is that it's actually "generic".
    Thanks again,
    MottiF

    Hi Mottif,

    1) I don't use the iPod interface so I cannot say for sure if other UI versions would work better.
(plus there are so many other skins and shells out there; that would take a while to test them all...)

    2) In theory, only the MCU firmware is specific to a car model.
Manager.exe (and the skins) are *somewhat* generic; they can work in pretty much every Roadrover unit but sometimes they do not.
That is because whenever Roadrover add a new specific car hardware functions (like TPMS, climate, etc), they sometimes hardcode a new UI function inside manager.exe as well. So the skin now depends on manager.exe which itself depends on MCU.
(This is bad design of course and that's why manager.exe can sometimes choked on certain skins. But that's another story...)

So your best bet for now is to try some newer skins along with new shells in the hope that the iPod UI will behave better.
In the mean time, I will take a look at your 2 skins and let you know what I find.

    Hi MottiF,

I looked at the 2 skins and here's what I found.
Surprisingly, in each skin, there are 2 iPod screens; each one is having its own behaviour as you described.
The first skin uses the first screen and the second skin the second screen.
(They probably had to create a second one to accommodate playing iPod videos)
These behaviours (fixed list and wheel controlled) are hard-coded in the UI 2.95.5. manager.exe.
Bad design (or unfinished work) as I said. Hacking manager.exe is possible but that would require a lot of work.

Now, apparently the latest UI shells (>3.0.0) have some enhanced iPod screens so may be that would fix the problem for you.
The only way to find out is for you to install a new shell and test a new skin version to see if it works.
(You should be able normally to revert all this if it is not working to your taste; BUT DO THIS CAREFULLY)
If it is working fine then we can either import the old skins and adapt them (that should be feasible).
Or we can use the new skins and change them.

The thing to remember is that the behaviour you want can only be provided by a new shell (manager.exe).

You can also check with our German friends at china-rns.com; they have a huge collection of skins and tools.

    Thanks Bulle,
I found gui version 3.00.5 on china-rns, which has the I9 folder in it. Newer versions available there are for I10 version. What's the meaning of this I9/I10 version? One download even says "only for I10 device". Does it mean that it is dependent on newer hardware than I9 devices?
In other words, what's the relation between the I9/10/11 version of Manager.exe and the actual device hardware? Is it "dangerous" to try an I10 version on my hardware (the HU) which runs I9 ?
From what you answered me before, I understood that Manager.exe is just the GUI, so I thought I could try any GUI version on my HU, if I don't change the firmware.

Also, you said "(You should be able normally to revert all this...". As explained on one of the early pages, if I copy a new version to a SD card, open the Windows desktop and manually run the new Manager.exe from the SD, than I can check the new version, and after that simply remove the SD, restart the system and it will reload the original version from internal memory. So, in my understanding, if I use this method of testing, I should never have any problem reverting to the old version. Do you agree?

    Regards,
    MottiF

    Hi MottiF,
yes, I9, I10 are for different hardware and software versions all together.
Some I10 parts might work on I9 but it's safer to stick with the version you have. At least for now.
You probably have an I9 version; double check if you have a \StaticStore\I9\Skins in the unit.

Yes; the procedure explained in the top page should work.
Once you find a manager.exe+skin combination that works for you then you can install it in the unit.
Do not forget to do a backup of your unit folders in case something goes wrong!

    Let us know.

    No luck so far, Bulle.
    I tested ver 3.00.5 and 3.06.2 found on china-rns.
The first has one skin whose lists are wheel controllable but hold only 30 item. The other has several skins, but none of them controls the iPod lists from the wheel. In other words, the same as I have now.
    I'll keep looking.

    Hi Mottif,
    very peculiar problem...

I would be very surprised if it has to do with the skin tests.
(You can always check the config.ini file in the I9 folder to see if there are any parking sensors values in there.)

First, it seems to be intermittent; you had the problem before even with a different HU.
Second, it was working properly with the last HU even AFTER you tested the skins; then it sopped after restarting the car.

This points to a parking sensor hardware failure; very common with those (cheap) devices.
The parking sensors usually have their own speakers for beeps; they usually can be found at the rear or on the sides of the car.
I would first double check which model you have and test the speaker if any. Check also the wiring obviously.
Or may be the parking sensor controller box is defective for sound.

    Let us know.
