I've owned nothing but sports cars since I was 18 years old, and now I'm 30. I was strongly considering the '17 Accord Hybrid. I gave up on it because it leaned more towards luxury, weight, and refinement. Although, those are some of the reasons I wanted to pull away from sports cars, the new Prius clicked with me more because of its more raw-hybrid character. I didn't bother to drive the Accord, but it definitely felt more upscale than I felt comfortable with. Also, the incentives and pricing with Honda's, and especially the latest Accord Hybrid would be very minimal (I'm thinking no more than a $1,000 dollars off)... Plus no 0% financing. My Prius 3 seemed very well equipped with nav and a few other goodies for much less ($5k+). The fuel economy also seems superior on the Prius, and I don't know how much I should trust Honda's figures since I heard there was some sort of error in the ratings of the last Accord Hybrid. Most importantly, the value and bang for the buck seemed more present with the Prius.

Overall, the Accord Hybrid felt more of a car for a 35+ year old. Maybe I'd own one at that time (5 years later). The Prius seemed more unique and different with its new redesign and polarizing looks... The way the new Prius drives is nothing short of sporty (game-changer)... It's a very rich experience compared to how it used to be. My motorcycles are still Honda's, but my cars tend to be Toyota's. I'm split, but I'm happy - what can I say? ; )

Fyi, these are my sports cars from the past (I used to track them for a while as well):

    - '04 Mazda RX-8
    - '06 Mitsubishi Evo IX MR SE
    - '09 BMW e90 M3
    - '10 Mazda RX-8 R3
    - '11 Mazda MX-5 Miata
    - '13 Scion / Toyota FR-S (86)

First I heard that. The difference in the window sticker numbers between the 2015 and 2017 Accord hybrid is because the EPA's new rules result in more conservative results.

The Prius is a smaller car, which is fine if it meets your needs. The Camry hybrid is a fairer comparison to the Accord one.

Makes sense. I should add that both the Accord Hybrid and Prius are fully manufactured in Japan. The Camry Hybrid is not. That's why I tend to compare the two specifically since I prefer vehicles built in Japan. Also, the Prius is more wisely designed in maximizing space and versatility with its hatchback design compared to the limits of a sedan... So in turn, the Prius does not become inferior because of its smaller and more nimble design. I prefer that aspect as well. To each his own, and I agree that the Accord and Camry compete more directly with one another... But since the Insight is extinct and a product of the past, I happened to cross-shop with my personal preferences.
