What was your first vehicle?

GM, FoMoCo, and Dodge were (ands some say still are) in a labour death loop in the 70's.

 

Geez I forgot about such, had similar, a 125cc Yamaha IIRC, same year.

 

At 15 got a job and bought a new 49cc Honda Spree Scooter. Then bought a 150CC Honda Scooter When II turned 16...Id top out at 73mph.
First car at 17 was a 1970 Purple VW Bug. Had to add seatbelts, Replaced the fuse box. Did a lot of repair work on that guy......
Got me ready to own a Range Rover and finally a Prius. LOL

 

I bought and fixed up an early 70's Toyota Corolla. The gas port was on the rear window pillar. I had a bit of head scratching to figure out how to gas her up.
Bought it for $250, added a fender, hood, grill, bumper, headlight sockets, and turn signals. Stepped on the lower valance to straighten it out. Primed the car, so it was all one color. Drove it around for 18 months, and sold it for $750. Off to the next project.....

 

Seeing the title is first vehicle, I might have to say a Big Wheel.

After that, a gold Schwinn with coaster brakes and a banana seat that served me well for several years.

After that, a Dodge Colt (rebadged Mitsubishi Galant), about equal parts '72 wagon and '74 hardtop by the time I was done with it.

Had MANY cross-country adventures in this car, but I can't say I miss it (as in, Fix It Again Tony...)

Great bumpers, full-size spare, $20 sealed-beams, manual choke, 13" rims IIRC, and heat/vent controls you could adjust without having to pull over..

Think I'm pining for it...

 

Could be use of fast film speed. I don't think the car would be traveling fast for the photo to begin with, if it was a real action shot.

 

Looks not much different from my mom's '77.

If I remember right, that car weighed maybe 1500 pounds, soaking wet. You'd need two on a see-saw across from a Prius.

 

My mom had this car with its weird transmission. Never thought of looking what was its name. Hondamatic, it's fitting lol.

 

My first car was a new red 1963 Triumph TR4. It was a fun car for my last two college years.

My first "vehicle" was a 1941 Servicycle. I was 14 years old and the motorcycle was two years older than me.

I recently visited a soaring club not too far away, and saw that both of their tow vehicles are Piper Pawnees, a model that I see was sold from 1959 to 1981.

I haven't asked which end of that range is closest to when these were made.
