Yeah, pretty steep. I wonder if the Gunmetal primer is to hide scratches, etc. it looks good tho, IMO. Too bad the toyota logo is gone.

For some reason it reminds me of the police cars (Ford Taurus painted black) in the movie "Robocop". I too will take a pass.

I swear I saw this car (or an identical treatment) outside of Boulder Colorado a few days ago. The paint looked like magnetic gray that had the clearcoat removed to make it no-gloss. It had also been totally de-badged and had some sort of blacked out taillights. I followed it for a few minutes to look at it and decided it was interesting but a bit odd.

Yeah, I was going to say "Robocop." Looks like it was spray-painted. Ick! And the stock rims AND chintzy trim rings painted black too? Lame! For $55k. Extra lame! For that price, at least put some nice rims on it.

Also, it looks terrible with the (T) badge removed... IMO, if you're going to take that off, you need either a completely custom hood, or some other custom badge in its place. There's an old beater of a Nissan parked down the street from my house with the logo missing from the hood, and this just reminds me of that.

Unless it was painted with 'Stealth' material like on F117A Stealth Fighter which can absorb Police radar signals.....Otherwise it costs double the MSRP ($55k Buy It Now price) for a 'ruined' (de-badged) Prius with Flat Black paint?

    You've got to be kidding....

Note the "no reserve" in the description and the "reserve not met" in the current bid. The kind of seller I would avoid.

    I like it.

Yes, those cars look sharp with the matte finish. But of course that's because the color/finish actually was done professionally (with price tags of >$100K, it'd better be that flawless) and because it actually compliments the lines of the car. Those cars have alot of detail (scoops, fins, etc.) that are almost accentuated by the flat finish.

Those cars are also not completely de-badged and featureless.

Personally, I think that this guy is going to have to get his $36K bid price to break even on this car. That's simply because he's going to have repair the damage he did to it, and that's going to cost. Too bad that no one is likely to pay that for a Prius unless there’s something really special about it.

I loot at ebayMotors a lot and am often amazed at the prices some sellers think they can get for their vehicles. More often than not, they get relisted - sometimes over and over - until they wise up and lower the price. Frankly, that anyone bid even $36,000 for that car is a miracle! He should take it (there are second chance offers a buyer can make if the bid doesn't meet the reserve) and be thrilled someone was dumb enough to take it off his hands!
