Its just that i have to pay for another tow. Also they just called me now about my complaint. They said they are in the right about what they said. They also told me they reproduced the error and will call me later about what its going to cost and whats wrong. So i have no idea what is happening.

They called me again and told me it is either one of two things now.
    1. The power inverter
    2. The transaxle

They said the power inverter is still under warranty so they are going to start with that. I am hoping so much it isn't the transaxle.

AVI if it is the transaxle what would you charge for that?

Did you ever change the transaxle fluid?

so i got my car back from toyota and They said they replaced the power inverter and no codes are popping up but they said they don't know whats wrong with the car or even if they fixed it. I am hoping they did as I'm told a transaxle replacement is expensive and as a dislocated worker I would have a hard time paying for it.

Thankfully they didn't charge a penny for the Power Inverter being replaced.

I wonder who provided training to the individual that you spoke with. That doesn't sound like a conversation that would promote confidence in that dealer service dept's technical capabilities...

She doesn't understand that without the codes we cannot help her. She needs to demand that the dealer give her a listing of the ODB2 codes that the dealer read out during their diagnostic efforts and relay them to us!

That dealer sounds pretty bad! They gave you the run around to get your money, especially replacing your brand new optimo battery. What nonsense saying that it's "not compatible". Wonderful how they only fixed the real (warranty covered) problem after they'd extracted this money from you. Now I don't know if some of those things were necessary or not, but based on what they said/did with regard to the battery you'd have to wonder.

Its rare to hear of just an Inverter failure. I would suspect a poor Inverter Coolant pump not working or pumping 100% or a poorly maintained Inverter coolant system. Old bad fluid.

I would address a Inverter Coolant flush asap. Its very cheap and protects the trans axle which you are rightly afraid of and the Inverter itself.

The Inverter Coolant system cools both the transaxle and the Inverter.

I would get the trans fluid changed asap also. I don't think you ever mentioned the miles on the car?

The car may have sat a long time before you bought it. Were there special circumstances to the purchase?

Never trust a dealer, especially if they think you don't know much about the car. A simple OBD2 scan which can be done by almost any mechanic, or even a parts store, and would reveal the true nature of the problem. If the Check Engine light came on, there should be an OBD code.

    The car has 113583 miles
and the person i spoke with, was their master mechanic. Their term not mine.
"Inverter Coolant flush" is that an easy thing to do, or do i have to take it somewhere.

Do you think they still have the codes? If i call them right now do you think they still have them?

I would call them and request to get those codes. Or go someplace else to get the codes scanned. Once, we have those codes, post them here and someone will be able to help you. You can get your own OBD2 scanner on ebay cheap, and do it yourself.

Generic code reader will usually not read Hybrid Codes. Requires Toyota Techstream software or a professional code reader.

Sounds like it's time to become a Better world club member. Maybe the membership with 100 mile coverage?

I'm 23, currently unemployed, not going to school but trying to sign up through unemployment.
    I've had a
    1961 Ford Falcon
    1989 Mercedes Benz E140 ( I believe )
    2003 Mitsubishi Galant
    2010 Nissan Versa
    2004 Toyota Prius

I've had a new car every year, the reason being is people keep crashing into my parked car totaling it.

I will call them monday morning as they didn't answer the phone today.

just last night i signed up for AAA, hope i really don't need it.

Unfortunately, AAA will make you wait a whole year before giving you 100 mile coverage. I think Better world club only makes you wait a week.

Well, the battery indicator on the screen is going crazy. One second its at full charge the next its almost empty. Should I call Toyota of Redlands? Or should I go to another Toyota Dealership? I was reading it might be the hybrid battery, but I don't know. If it is the battery is still under warranty as I live in california

Based on your mileage (113583), if your car was originally sold in California and does not have a salvage title, the hybrid battery should be under warranty. If it wasn't originally sold in California, it may be under warranty if it was originally sold in a few other states.
