I took my 2006 out in the rain for the first time today. It drove perfect and it did not melt. It was strange watching the right wiper move. I have never seen a wiper like this. The rear wiper really does not clear the rear glass when it wipes.
I think mine actually likes to play in the rain. I agree, the front wipers are great. The rear is barely adequate; and the wiper motor lump in the rear obstructs some more of your rear view. I almost wish they left off the rear wiper. <_<
On my TV news last night they showed flooding around Portland and said "...30 straight days..." Did WA miss a couple days of rain a month ago?
It's been rainy most of this month here in Delaware.... wish it would get dry and warm so I can use my Zaino!!!
Not only has it been raining most of 30 days in Portland, but every trip we've made to our Toyota dealer since placing our order in October it has been raining hard, so it almost _feels_ like it has been raining on our car deal since October, even though we picked up on Jan 2nd. - Bob R.
Noah had it easy -- he only had to put up with this for 40 days and 40 nights. :lol: Having lived in the Pacific Northwest (Portland and Seattle), you get used to this -- and by "this", I mean a really, really long stretch of grey rainy weather every couple of years. That said, my folks were out walking along the Willamette river this morning (in Portland), and said that the river is at its highest point since the big river flood of 1996.
Ahh, the "Great Flood" of '96. I just love tossing that phrase around again... makes me sound like some kind of ol' timer or somethin' I had to drive from Corvallis, Oregon to Seattle, WA during the Great Flood. Had to find many alternate routes along the way, as several Willamette bridges were closed and so was I-5 south of Olympia. And no Nav system in my Neon... had to use those old fashioned "map" thingies. The alternate routes around I-5 were not official detours but rather advice from locals in a coffee shop that involved some gravel roads, but I made it. At one point, on a rural highway, water was running over the road. Fortunately, there was a line of cars attempting it, so you could gauge the depth. The Neon was built pretty low, so I had to go very slowly so as not to drown the engine. I don't think I would attempt the same in the Prius, at least not yet... Anyone know how deep of a puddle the Prius can cross? What dies first, the ICE or the high voltage system? - Bob R.
I used to have a T-shirt: "Seattle Rain Festival...Jan 1 - Dec. 31" Always got a big laugh in San Diego.
