I purchased a new 2007 Prius in NJ in early 2008. How can I tell if it is CARB certified?
The dealer I talked to said no, but others have told me if it was sold in a CARFB state it is CARB certified.

with 114,000 miles, I am looking at a huge bill if it is not covered under the CARB 150,000 mile plan.

Is there any way for me to tell?

welcome! if nj was a carb state when you purchased it, and it's been registered there the entire time, you should be covered.

if it wasn't a carb state, you need to read a thread here by a guy from ny, who had the same issue. he called toyota, and everything got so confusing between him, them and the dealer, they just decided to cover it.

All USA Prii are CARB certified, so it gets into Toyota's warranty rules and policy which are a little crazy. But your case sounds like a slam dunk no brainer. You can call Toyota or usually the dealer does this for you.

See my write-up on "CARB Warranty Ins and Outs" but you should be fine, assuming the part you are trying replace (HV battery most commonly) is covered by CARB.
