    Hello all.

Well, here is the deal. I found a 2007 Prius Pkg #2 (I'm pretty sure) with only 19,768 miles on it. I drove it and all seems well. I think it looks great, and it is in the color I wanted, (Silver Pine Mica).

The only thing I could find wrong with it was that the tire inflator light was on, and it looked like the back right tire was a tad low. The dealer told me they would take the tire off and check for a slow leak and fix it.

    The other thing was that there is a small dent real low on the passenger side right in front of the rear tire. You can see it in the picture;

It comes with the carpeted mats, alloy tires,(there is a ring around the rims that comes off, but the middle of the rims are shiny and look like aluminum....not really a hubcap, but a ring so I think it's a alloy rim)
    and the cargo shade.

I can buy it for $16,000 plus tax. The car came from Palm Beach Florida, has no rust, very low miles. Has a good carfax with it and was one owner.

    So, i'm a bit scared.....is it a good deal??

The problem is that I leave for Florida Saturday, so if I do buy this, I have to do everything tomorrow and it would sit in my garage for a month. I really did not plan on doing this so fast......

Sorry for the long post. That is a lot of money for me and I'm nervous. Should I do it??

    Thanks!! Frank D.

I wouldn't without a warranty or without having another Toyota technician check it out.

    Thanks Guys.
I'm really on the fence on it. I'd feel better if it was from a Toyota dealer and not an independent.

I'm thinking I might pass on it........logistically it would be difficult for me to go back up to Buffalo, (about 40 miles away) and do the deal when we leave so early Saturday morning. I don't like to be rushed, and since I'm working at the firehouse both tonight and tomorrow night I would not have time to pack, etc if I had to spend the day switching plates, getting the cashiers check, etc, etc.

I was rushed today looking at it and driving it. I forgot to look in the trunkspace to see if all the parts were there, etc. I know it is a little thing, but I no that since it came from Florida it does not have a front license plate bracket, and I'd insist they would get a OPM one from Toyota.

It's probably a great car and a good price, but the timing is just not right. In less then 48 hours I'll be in Florida for a month, and I feel too rushed to do it tomorrow....I still have to pack. If it is still around in a month, I'll reconsider.

I'll be looking down in Florida. I think I'd rather spend a bit more and get a new 2009 or 2010, and write off the sales tax next income tax time. We'll see. I appreciate the help!

    Respectfully, Frank D.

Wow....that is a good deal I think. I wanted to buy used also, and did so via EBAY. Also got a 2007, package #6, barcelona red (the color I wanted too) from an independent dealer in Lexington Ky. He had gotten it from Florida (it was a lease return vehicle so it was in great shape) It had 30,500 miles. I picked it up in March and it has been FANTASTIC. I have ZERO regrets. just two cents worth...

Get the VIN number and run a carfax. In the long run it will be worth it. Last thing you want to do is buy one at that price that had been totaled out and repaired due to water damage or a major car accident. The peace of mind is worth the price. Also it would be important to find that out because if it hasn't ever been totaled it will still have the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty and you could still buy the 100,000 mile extended warranty if you were concerned.

i don't think it's a super deal. but at the same time it's not a rip-off. sounds like an average going price for the car considering the current economy, and the fact that it has a few undesirables. if you don't absolutely need it i'd pass, i searched for 3 months for my prius until i found it on ebay. i paid 16500 for my 2007 mag grey pk 5 with 15800 miles on it.

i'll second the carfax. it's great peace of mind to know the car's documented history. if it's at a dealer they should do it for you for free. if not, buy the month and run as many cars as you want.

That doesn't sound like such a bad price, so long as you are getting a dealer to back you up.

If you'd like an '07 SPM, I may be offering mine for sale soon (depending on the 2010 delivery date!). It is a Package #6 with nearly 29K. Absolutely clean and runs like a dream. You can see the mileage I've gotten from it. It has a couple of scratches on it that I'd need to point out to you, because you can't even see them when walking around the car.

It also has a Fire Engineer specially-installed EBH!

I almost cry thinking about parting with the car. In fact, I'm thinking of holding on to it.

Still, if you are interested, please let me know.

I agree - great price. There's always the option of an aftermarket warranty if these issues really concern you (and it seems the do/should). Check out universal underwriters or your current auto insurance provider.

I did this when I bought my first used car (a 2001 audi s4), and it really paid off!
