I detect a family theme resemblance to the new Avalon.

Hmm.. the front looks like the new RL. Ooh, there's signal lights on the mirrors.

Not bad. If they do make the production version like that, I'd be impressed. I was impressed with the current one back in Sept 2001, so was my dad that's why we bought one to replace our 00 Corolla LE. Dad's first impression - it's sporty (no idea if that's a good thing or a bad thing to him lol)

Yes, I agree. I really like the current model - it's a good mix of family and sporty sedan. My aunt had Lexus leather seats installed in hers and the car is very very comfortable.

However, something tells me that the current model's body lines would lend itself to a hybrid version better than the one in these spy shots.

Well, this generation has a Cd of 0.276 so it's pretty aerodynamic. Imagine if they added fairings and "flattened" the underbody on the Camry Hybrid, they may get closer to 0.26!

Also, they've kept a few of this generation's features such as the rear door and the rear licence plate area. It seems they've added a more pronounced 'shoulder' at the back, somewhere between the current model's and the 7 series.
