    Hello all!

This is my first post on Prius Chat, but I've been lurking ever since the announcement of the 2010 Prius.

I've been thinking about purchasing my first new car for a while, and the new Prius definitely fits the bill.

Anyways, I thought I remembered seeing a link to a downloadable pdf with the features of the announced pre order packages somewhere, but alas, I cannot find it anymore?

    Does anyone have it?

Thanks, and expect to hear a lot more out of me leading up to the release of '10!

The PDF was specifically for those who have been offered the chance to pre-order before the general release. The actual packages available for dealer pre-order have not been announced as of yet, and should be when pricing is announced.

I spoke to Doug Coleman from Toyota Corp. and he told me about the three packages. I am interested in a gold package 2010 Prius, but I also need fog lamps. Doug told me I could do away with the gold package and get fog lamps without a sunroof in the platinum package. I told him I wanted a sunroof and fog lamps and didn't need 17 inch wheels and self parking.

He said if enough people request fog lamps with the gold package, that Toyota would address this demand. The problem with a car without fog lamps is that there is a dummy plug of round plastic in the place of the fog lamp and the car looks so cheap that way.

Doug is a really nice guy and listens to reason. His phone number at Toyota Corp. is ***-***-****.

I hope others have the same feeling as I do, and will call him to try to rectify this omission. Us present and future Prius owners must stay united to inform Toyota of our needs and wants.

I agree with William's sentiments. Whether you want fog lights or not, those grey plugs in the 2010 Prius without fog lights look kinda dopey. I think if I were to get a 2010 with those grey plugs, I'd check out how the car looked with the plugs removed and/or I would spray paint the plugs black.

Put white reflectors over the plugs or in the holes they will be as affective as the fogs. The fog lamps Toyota use are crap. Sorry Toyota, I call a spade a spade and a Toyota a great car but you fog lights are crap.

Hi William - thanks for posting that.

I'm in a similar situation - I'd like to have LED headlights and 17" wheels and the sunroof. I guess sunroof takes priority, but I'm pretty amazed that they didn't have a package that included this. Why didn't they make the platinum package truly platinum and just have it loaded. Personally, I'd rather have extra stuff that I don't want than have to choose between not having what I do want.

I spoke to Doug at the D.C. preview - but didn't get back in touch with him. Can please you PM me Doug's number and or email?

    Thanks!
    Dave

I'm surprised from a business standpoint they don't "FORCE" you to get the moonroof with the Platinum package ... seems strange the only package you can get the moonroof in is the Gold. One would think "platinum" would mean "loaded up" ... which it seems to here, yet you can't get the moonroof.

Does anybody have an idea as to where the silver package fits into the overall equation? If you start with the base package ,how far up would you estimate the silver package to be? I think I would like something between the silver and gold. Money being the driving force.(no pun intended)

    PC Members,

As I'm sure you can imagine, Doug is an extremely busy man right now with the launch only months away. It would be especially helpful to our Prius Team (which is limited to only 2 people) if you would continue to voice your concerns/feedback through the forums/PMs and Customer Experience Center rather than trying to contact us directly via email or phone. We'd like to manage our response times and promise to continue listening. Those of you attending the Prius Connection events will likely meet many reps from Toyota, but we'd encourage you to use this medium for contacting us. We promise to do our best to keep up with the feedback, answer your questions (when we can) and respond accordingly to your comments/needs.

    Thanks for your understanding.

If Doug is reading this, it sure would be nice if the moon roof would be available somewhere between the silver and gold package.

I have read in several other threads that it would be difficult from a mpg and/or engineering perspective to have the solar roof and all the goodies bundled into one package.

However, I bet it would increase the likelihood of purchase of those thinking of switching from another brand to a Prius if an option that included leather, NAV, moon roof/solar panels, 17" wheels, and LED highlights/fog lights (without dynamic cruise, pre-crash, self-park) were offered. I certainly would buy a 2010 if the above type of package were offered.

I agree that the Toyota fog lamps are worthless, at least they were on my '05, but if you want them you should be able to get them. Can't the dealer install fog lamps? seems like it shouldn't take more than an hour or two?

I agree with you, but to start taking apart a new car and creating rattles is not very welcoming. Especially if the car is over $30,000. My '08 Prius has fog lamps. Why do I have to give them up because Toyota omitted them and made it impossible to have them put in. I hope Doug is listening and will remedy the situation. Toyota must respond to dedicated customers and deliver. There are other players in the game today and people will jump ship if toyota doesn't come through.

Thank you Prius Team for your response. It is one thing to listen to comments. It is another to respond and solve those problems. Many fellow Prius owners feel that fog lamps should be offered in the GenIII with the gold package. I hope Doug and his team will listen and will be able to make this a reality. Thank you.
