hey guys, I just installed the factory navigation, however, I cannot seem to get the voice guidance and turn by turns to work.

the voice talks right when I set my destination and at the arrival of my destination ?

Do I need to update my map DVD ? still using the 9 version

    let me know

    thanks

I had the 8.1 version for three years and it worked fine so nothing wrong with the version. There is a setting where you can disable the voice guidance. Go to Setup->Voice and make sure the Voice Guidance has not been turned off.

Yeah, I believe the factory installed microphone is on the head liner, I believe in front of the overhead map lights.

The microphone is used when you speak for the Hands-Free phone use.

The voice guidance uses the audio speakers. The fact that you are getting the voice guidance at the beginning and the end tells me that the speakers are working OK at times but what is the problem in the middle?

is there a seperate speaker for the voice guidance ?

I only hear the voice guidance during the beginning of my trip and at the end of my trip. There's no voice guidance in between, no turn by turn display, and no re-routing ?

I still can't figure out the problem ><

I updated a video of the problem I'm having, don't think it's a speaker issue, hopefully someone knows of this problem and can help me out

    thanks !

Does the voice only work when your parking brake is on?

    edited to add
You started a second thread with the same issue? Why don't you ask a moderator to lock one thread.

I still think it's either a defective unit or an issue with wiring.

The Ottonavi factory look unit is now selling for $600. Can you return the unit you recently bought?

The voice only works in the beginning after when I type in the destination and in the end upon arrival of my destination. I'm starting to think it's an issue with wiring, but don't know which one.

I opened a case with Ebay but the other guy is wanting a 12% restocking fee for a refund ><

there's no software upgrade for the 2010 prius nav right ?

the updated DVD's are just maps and won't make a difference correct ?

Will installing the mic make any difference ?

Correct, the DVD just updates the map. I can't see anywhere in the wiring diagram where hte mike would make a difference. I'm stumped on the whole problem.

Did you get your Navi working?

So I played with my Navi about a week ago after reading this and there is a menu option to turn on/off voice prompts. I'll have to go back to my car to remember which specific menu selection it was but have you tried going through the audio/navigation settings on your device?
