Did we ever find out if they did away with the fuel bladder? I believe I heard yes, they did ... but was unsure.

    Hi Danny,
    Thank you for the information.
I believe Toyota revised the numbers, 51/48/50.
I believe the rear suspension does not come with stabilizer bar, same as Auris.

    The bladder is definitely gone.

Ken - I'll have some more information regarding tires soon.
  5. ggood
Yes, poly resin tank now. No bladder.

Also - This info seems to be a reprint of the preliminary info provided by Prius Team in another thread. People spotted several typos and errors in that info, so people should review that thread. E.g. - Turning circle numbers are actually radius numbers; and there's one mistaken tire size reference to "185". There were other errors.

The current Prius has one, I would expect the new one to have it, too.
  7. Tideland Prius
Sorta. I don't think it's a stabilizer bar in the traditional sense IIRC.
  8. ken1784
You're correct about the current Prius suspension.
    Toyota Prius: Base specifications here
"Rear Suspension: Semi independent, torsion beam with trailing arms, strut-type coil springs, gas damper units and anti-roll bar"

Are you familiar with the 2010 Prius suspension is same as the Auris/Corolla?
Toyota Corolla: Ascent (Hatch) specifications here
"Rear Suspension: Semi-independent trailing torsion beam, coil springs and gas damper units"

    Guess I was wrong. Oops!

    FYI,
Following figures are Iconic Prius rear suspension with the stabilizer bar and Auris rear suspension.
I think Auris's one (same as 2010 Prius) is stiffer eliminating to add an independent stabilizer bar.

So the Auris doesn't have a rear stabilizer bar?

So, you missed post #3 and #9 of this thread?

I believe from memory the rear suspension cross member is an "S" form rather than the iconic "C" form with the sway-bar in the C. I suspect the "S" form of the cross member makes it stiffer so no need for a sway-bar.

OK, I'll probably betray my ignorance here, but isn't the cross member in the 2010 that we've all seen pictures of (forward of the rear beam) considered a stabilizer bar?

    here's the picture:

thank you. I've found it. So in that case, do we need one in the 2010? Is there a separate bar from the suspension?
  18. ken1784
My observation is the 2010 cross member is something like upside-down "U" shape.
    I agree.
I believe no need to add a separate bar.

mmm ok, I think I'm starting to understand the concept.
