2010 Prius Rearview Mirror Mounted Awfully Low IMO

The regular rearview mirror would work fine for me and the Homelink mirror hangs only slightly low. Moot point as would get a Prius III anyway.

Rearview mirror is fine in 2010 as well as rest of interior.

Try lowering the seat so your field of vision is lower. I tried turning the mirror upside down like you can on the Gen 2, but no can do on the Gen 3. The slope of the glass keeps you from doing this simple and effective mod.

At 5' 5" I never had a problem with the mirror being too low.

Coming from a Highlander I noticed that the mirror was back in my field of vision, but no more so for me than the Camry I had. I guess I'm just used to it in sedans, and didn't notice it until I moved to an SUV and the mirror wasn't in the way any more.

Me! Me! That's the biggest of only two problems I've had with our Prius. It really does block traffic coming from your right at an intersection.

I hadn't looked at its pivot mechanism, so I'll see if there's anything that can be done about it, per some posts here.

edit, first read, missed that cannot invert a 2010 Homelink mirror.

Are you sitting with the seat back fully perpendicular to the floorpan? I honestly don't see how you are having so many problems with headroom and the mirror otherwise. I mean I'm taller than you and even sitting up straight, no gansta lean, I don't have any of these issues.

No. More vertical than gangsta, but not perpendicular



Above a very good seatback angle for me ... puts the seatback and headrest 'right there', very supportive.

Anything back and the upper seatback starts to 'go away' as well as headrest ... not good in a rear-end collision.

reclining seatback blows 10 , 2 oclock reach to wheel for me.

As for proper seat positioning, I agree with you. I do not think I am sitting 100% correctly, I am just sitting how it is comfortable to me.

No headroom probs in 2010.

This is a function of torso length rather than total height. I understand what Cycledrum is talking about; I did the reversed mirror thing and modified my seat to lower it but the mirror is still blocking part of my forward vision. It is too close to my head.

I am only 6'1" but my head was touching the roof liner before I modified the seat because I have a long torso (my GF calls me the Freak of Natureâ„¢).

Can't flip upside down the Homelink mirror on the 2010 model.

The blocked vision problem will get worse the more you think about it! Like a dripping faucet at night that keeps you awake, the mirror will bug you till you do something. Maybe the dealer has a fix available?

I'm fine with my 2009 mirror.

Just trying to help make the GenIII the best it can be for a wide variety of shapes and sizes. I'm a big fan of the new car.

This morning's paper showed a Prius II just $2.2k more than a Camry LE. That's really closing the gap! Plus it's a hatch and many wil pay for that.
Heck, the Prius III basic is only a few hundred over a loaded Matrix S ... the Prius will sell like mad once the economic fog lifts.
