    Hi Sasi,

There are different ratings in different countries. The american rating of 50mpg is equal to 21.3 kilometres per litre. The UK rating of 72mpg (imperial gallons) is equal to 25.6KPL

Besides the different unit sizes, the different ratings are due to different test procedures. I can't speak to what goes into European, UK, or Sri Lankan tests, but http://priuschat.com/forums/other-c...uth-about-epa-city-highway-mpg-estimates.html has an overview of the US EPA tests.

The C&D article linked to also says:

    Welcome, Sasi,

A lot of us would be interested in knowing what you get.
I have never been in Sri Lanka, but I have been in cars a lot in India and Nepal, and a bit in Pakistan. I wasn't big into figuring out milage in those days, though.

What are you asking? How to display it on your car? How to calculate it yourself? Or, are you asking about mileage ratings? If so, for what regions/countries?

    Hi
I live in kandy, Sri Lanka and own a 2nd gen Prius. I do get a reasonable mpg on my car. I average around 23-25km/l depending of course on the traffic situation driving condition etc. These figures are achieved provided that I take my time to get to my destination, plan my route and follow the pulse and glide technique etc. Overall I'm immensley impressed by the mpgs achieved.
Being in Colombo probably makes you run a lot in traffic snarls and make you use the battery less effectively. In which case probably you are having your engine running on gasoline for longer duration reducing mpgs.
The other reason is probably keeping your A/C at max cool, which again makes the gasoline use heavy especially if you are caught in traffic.

I dunno what the first two are but they are warning messages. The last one with the Past Record screen, it shows that the Best (i.e. Record) is 23.4km/L

Your current average looks to be 12km/L over 106km (that's pretty bad). The previous 542km tank with an average that looks like 17km/L is a little better.

I was really happy to see on newspapers recently that Sri Lanka started importing the Prius. I am from Sri Lanka, but live in US. Congrats on your new cars Sasi and Arjuna and welcome to PriusChat. :welcome:

P.S. I would never buy a Prius in SL. Too many chances of getting it damaged by a maniac private bus driver!

The rating in EU for the Prius is 25km/L in city and combined, a tad more (26km/L) combined.

If the Japanese software has a language option for the display (not the Navi - I don't have this - PC User Ken from Japan might be able to help you - link to his PriusChat profile here), you need to press the "Disp" button on the steering wheel (car turned on, but standing still) until you get the settings screen - it should look like the image attached no1, but with Japanese characters.

Keep then "Disp" pressed and you enter a list of options - it should look like attached picture no2, but with Japanese characters.

"language" is the 4th option from the top (there is not reason why in the Japanese version it should be located elsewhere in the list) - you can move there by pressing the Disp button - once selected, keep the Disp pressed and you will enter in the list of available languages. And let's hope english is there...

Did you get a User's manual? in what language is that?

PS: "Settings" in Japanese should look like this "設定"
"Languages" in Japanese should look like this "言語"
    (source Google's translator...)
