    Wow, did you see the EPA ratings for the Camry Hybrid?

    43/39/41 for the LE model
    41/38/40 for the XLE model
    (city/hwy/combined)

    Drop in fuel economy for the XLE is likely primarily due to the larger wheels/tires 215/55/R17 vs 205/65/R16 on the LE.

    HUGE step up from the current model and beats the Ford Fusion Hybrid!

    This should go over well with the general public - they get their midsize car, 200hp, and 41 combined mpg. I predict there will be high demand for this car, depending on the price $.

    It looks like they gave the hybrid the same outside appearance as the high-end model - an indication that Toyota does Not want the Camry hybrid to be perceived as the economy version of the Camry, but rather as a high end version. This could indicate a steep price tag.

    Wonder if the Lexus CT performance version will get this TCH treatment. Imagine more power AND mpg for the upgrade package.

    The all important trunk space answer:

    Traditional Camry: EPA Cargo Volume 15.4 cu. ft.
    Hybrid Camry: EPC Cargo Volume 13.1 cu. ft.

    Passenger volume is the same in both cars.
    Also, the Hybrid LE is 3,417 pounds, and the traditional LE is 3,190 pounds.

    I don't get why the hybrid needs a 17gal gas tank.

    Why not do a 10 or 12 and keep full trunk volume?

    The trunk is bigger (13.1 vs. 10.7 cu.ft) than the much hyped Sonata hybrid with Lithium battery.

    Camry hybrid is also lighter (3,417 vs. 3,483 lbs) than Sonata hybrid. This is a big deal because Hyundai hyped their hybrid system is lighter and cost less.

    Both cars cost virtually the same. However, I have not compared the standard equipments.

    You don't need 17, but I'm sure its less expensive to build one gas tank for all the camries. The new trunk is much bigger than the old one, the only problem with it seems to be shape from the photos.
