    A question i would have on the change to a lithium-ion battery would be longevity and cost of the traction battery. Lithium-ion batteries do not do well in extreme temps. For me summer days at or above 90 and winter days below zero. What effect will this have on a lithium-ion battery?

    Toyota has been testing this technology for years now. If it were not proven in their application for the life of the vehicle, they certainly would not use it in a production vehicle. Imagine the bad press. I think your concerns are unwarranted IMO.

    i would imagine that all manufacturers strictly control the working conditions of the battery, or none of them would last long.... ie active cooling for instance.

    What would they teach?

    Much of the interest will be sparked by the EPA estimates, but most of the supporter will come from owners. It's endorsements from them that has been the most effective means of promtion in past... and with far less internet power/flexibility/reach than what we have now.
