after driving the V for a year, I found the best modification yet. Trade it in for the 2013 Rav4. Nice to drive a car that drives like a car than a toy.

    Bye.

(why would you modify a v? The Mona Lisa does not need a mustache.)

    That's funny I traded in a 2011 Rav4 for a 2013 Prius v. I don't miss the Rav4 at all or the 21 mpg that went with it.

Had a CRV, buddy has a RAV4, another a Venza. I'm in them once a week. Nice cars all. I considered them all, wouldn't have sold the '03 CRV for them as I didn't consider they offered enough "upgrade" in the areas I value over what I had, the v I thought did. About 20MPG though I gave up 4WD. That translates to me with not having to gas up after every trip to the grandkids.

I drove the wife and big purchases about 120 miles today mostly on the interstate at 65 in a v after another similar trip with the grandkids and a week around town. fuelly said 42+ MPG when I gassed up.

    To each his own.

You generally have to give up something to get something. In the RAV4 case about 15MPG per fuelly. Yes, the RAV4 is superior in some other areas.

I'm glad you are happy with your decision.

    And I am with mine.

I had the 2006 RAV4 with all wheel drive and the V-6 engine. I also traded mine in for a Prius v V. I live in Wisconsin so sure could have used the all wheel drive this winter. Having said that, the RAV 4 had numerous recalls, it was noisy and rattled like a old truck when it went down the road. The new '13 RAV does look interesting, but I would hate to give up the better mileage; and I didn't lose a thing in the number of passengers it carries and the amount of cargo I can pack into the car. Guess you could say "I'm a happy camper".

Enjoy your Rav4...I am sure enjoying my v and its great has mileage. Plus I will love the fact that my v will have a much better resale value when I am done paying it off ;)

I might actually get the 2013 RAV4 Limited if I need a car this year instead of 2012. Very nice car. I am expecting 24 mpg for the new RAV4.

But selling a 1 year old v is costly though.

    Exactly.
Everyone is free to buy and drive what they want, but what motivates someone to make that post?

LOL, I traded a 2012 RAV 4 Limited/Loaded/Nav/Tow/Leather V6 and 15.6 mpg for the v. 40+mpg. Wife tells me a 6 large savings in gas alone. While I miss 276hp, i LOVE 40 mpg and more nuanced driving. No regrets at all! And of course you're gonna take a bath but it shouldn't have been too bad unless the dealer hosed you as they often do. Good luck with the RAV!

Best of both worlds would be a RAV 4 Hybrid. I sure hope that they come out with one before the useful life is up on my (wife's) 2004 Highlander. I told her the next car is going to be another hybrid. She said that she doesn't want to drive like me. I told her that if she drove just like she does now she would at least double her current mileage of 16mpg.

I think I could get her to drive a RAV 4 hybrid if it existed. Are you listening TOYOTA!!!

No. Not on PriusChat they aren't. (Once upon a time US Marketing visited PriusChat, but they don't design cars)

What she needs is a Tesla Model S! Actually, I need one of those. But.... I can't afford it.
