I wouldn't even consider a Ford, but that's me. The Prius comes with 2 years of free maintenance, long warranty on the hybrid system and legendary reliability. There should still be 0% financing available on the v as well.

What do you actually expect people on a Prius forum to tell you?

 

We did 14 hours of driving over 24 hours last weekend (48mpg for the trip) and I continue to believe that the v Five is easily the most efficient as well as one of the most refined and quietest road cars I have ever driven. I really don't know from where these "noisy" comment originate. We run tire pressures at 41/40 and find the road feel to be precise and a quiet ride. We have the dark gray Softex and find it to be very durable and stain resistant.

 

if mpg's and space aren't enough for you, i would go with the cmax.

well those are your big advantages. maybe reliability, not sure about cmax. ride quality, quietness, comfort, performance, ford may have the advantage, i have never sat in one. i've been in a prius for ten years, mostly for the room and mpg's. everything else is acceptable and you can proxy find better on other models, but without the big two.

 

There are several often mentioned comments with the hatchback that I don't agree with either. The Prius v 5 is a very classy car in appearance and is well optioned. Can't beat Toyota hybrid reliability. Have you visited a C-Max forum for actual user feedback? Good luck with you decision and choice.

 

Just went through that decision. Spent considerable time driving and researching both.

Just as the reviews state, I found the "ride" nicer on the C-max when driving on bad roads, but ultimately the Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) edged out the C-max for reliability and reputation for long term ownership. I like both cars. Good luck!

 

Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) as the exhaust heat recovery system. If you do a lot of short trips, it is a better choice in term of fuel economy.

 

What? Sounds like you're saying he'd get better space AND MPG with C-Max. NOT true in either case. C-Max has much better acceleration but is smaller inside and has been shown to have worse FE than Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) And it's reliability has been spotty too. Given all those demerits against the likely fact that C-Max is a better driving experience, I'd go with the Prius v, especially since Toyota reliability is consistently better than Ford's lately.

Okay, you you also recommend the Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) just wanted to be clear. I do wish Toyota had tuned the v (lowercase v) for more power since a lot of folks value that but until C-Max has a long-term good reliability score, I'd not touch it at all. The v (lowercase v) has the space, comfort and reliability down (per Consumer Reports) but it could use a bit more power and it also should meet the latest IIHS crash test it currently doesn't, though that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
