In a package IV you get "3-Door Smart Key" will someone tell what that is. I have a 2006 package 6 and all my doors unlock if I touch the door handle, that is the way I programed it. I am confused... Still waiting for IV to come in. I have been waiting 7 month 2 weeks 4 day... ok ok it is getting old :D

If you have the fob (smart key) with you (e.g., in your pocket), you can open the locked doors (front and hatch) just by touching the door handle as if to open them.

The 3 door SKS is the same as you have now om your 2006. It's on the IV and V model G3s.

Lower models of the G3s only have a 1 door SKS (driver's door).

    Best wishes,

    Frank

On the Gen II's, if you had the SKS option, it only came 3 door SKS.

Now on the Gen III, 1 door (driver door) SKS comes standard on the Prius II and III. Once you get the Prius IV or V, you get 3 door SKS.

I have a III and only have the driver's side door able to unlock when I touch it. You can touch the driver, passenger and hatch door with the IV and V.

BUT, I did take it back for them to allow me to open all doors with the touch of my driver's side door handle.

    I hope that's clear as mud...:D

Ah, I see what you were trying to ask now...

You can set it up yourself to unlock all the doors when you touch the door handl, that does not need to be done through a dealer. The info is in the manual, I forgot how to do it as I did mine already. It is done through button presses on the remote.

You can configure the SKS to open all doors when you touch the driver's door, but configuring the fob to unlock all doors with one push has to be done by the dealer. It's a customizable option they change with their computer setup hooked to the car.

It is NOT something that you need the dealer to do for you. Just go up to a door with your remote, hold all the keys on the remote down for a couple seconds and release. The car will beep and now the SKS opens all doors at once. If you want it toggled back to single door, do the same thing.

That's what I was talking about, to make it unlock all four doors when you touch the door handle.

But I think what he was talking about was when you press the unlock button on the remote, the dealer can make it so it unlocks all the doors with the first button press. Now you have to press the unlock button on the fob twice to do that.

    Am I right?

As I said in my post, the owner can configure how the SKS works, but the dealer has to configure how many button pushes on the fob it takes to open all doors.

    Two separate issues.

That was exactly what I was explaining.

Thanks for the heads up on that. Had an appointment to get that fixed on Tuesday. Now all I need is that stinking reverse beep to go away. Guess I'll be good after Tuesday.
