You are correct GenII 2008 Prius, I achevied this tank in the summer on the factory tires(Goodyear Integrity) was running 50 psi front, and 48 psi rear . I used all the tricks, and could have done much better, but I travel 60% of my commute on Interstate, and it kills my MPG. That was in the summer of 2009(I got like 10 tanks 60MPG or better in a roll). I am still driving my 2008 Prius it has 155,000 miles, and runs like new. I dont try as hard as I did when I first got my prius, but I still crank out 53-57mpg tanks. I am on my second set of tires, managed to get 83,000 out of factory integrity tires. I P&G when I can, and take every advantage of any down hill.. I run mobil fully synthetic 0W-30 oil in it. Only things I have replaced are the 12volt battery,spark plugs, and the S.Belt I dont get on here as much anymore, but may be getting me a new prius in a couple of years( although I did just get mine paid for ). If you have any questions feel free to ask..

Anytime I see someone get 700 miles on a Gen II, I'm very impressed. Not that it can't do the rate of 60+ mpg, but given the nuances of the bladder/gas tank, it is impressive (or nuts) to get that type of range.

I am just like you. I have 90,000 miles on my 2010 Prius and plan on putting 300,000 miles on this car. I will also get around 80,000+ miles on a set of tires.

Over the 155,000 miles what repairs have you had to pay for.

The only thing I have taken my prius to the dealer for was the spark plugs at 110,000.
I do all my own maintance and oil changes:
check tire pressure every weekend
change oil, and rotate tires every 10,000
change air filter every 50,000
changed 12 volt battery at 120,000(yellow top optima)
changed trans axle fluid at 120,000
changed serpentine belt at 150,000

I keep telling people not to waste their money on an extended warranty. You are a perfect example of why it does not pay on a Toyota.

During the summer month of November 2011 I managed to reach 1228 km (763 miles) on one tank with an indicated consumption of 3.8 l/100km (61.9 mpg). It was mostly city driving and the maximum temperatures were in the 20s to mid 30 degrees Celsius. Tyres were Bridgestone Turanza ER30 with pressures of 290 kPa (42 psi) front and 280 kPa (40 psi) rear and I used 93 octane fuel. When I filled up I could only get 41.48 liter into the tank which gave a calculated consumption of 3.4 l/100km. Theoretically I could have reached 822 miles if I could continue like that.
I used the standard pulse and glide techniques that I learned from PriusChat forum but something I do different is to let the ICE run at startup until it shuts off when reaching 40 degree Celsius before I set off briskly on my 25 km commute to warm the engine up fast. As soon as the ICE temperature reach 75 degrees Celsius (usually at the school where I drop of my first child) I stop and force the S4 mode. The speed limit is 60 km/h (36 mph) in town and I pulsed up to about 70 km/h (43 mph) and glide down to about 55 km/h (34 mph) depending on traffic. I also started to set off earlier to avoid the peak traffic and I attempted a number of different routes until I found one with the least amount of stops and traffic. Timing the traffic lights and driving with load up the inclines also helps a lot.

I have recently acquired an Android tablet with the Torque OBD application and the consumption for the last 2 months are significantly down compared to the same time last year. Guess what my next target is for the upcoming summer.

Thank you GenII guys for adding your names to the list. I would hate for people to think the GenIII is superior when it comes to MPG. While the GenIII is easier to attain higher numbers, many believe the GenII is better for max numbers via hypermiling. The fact it has the goofy bladder makes these 700 mile tanks quite an achievement in my opinion. Good job!

Good point! Non-U.S. cars were not cursed with one. You earned your place in the club anyway.

I guess I made the 700 mile club years ago in my 2004 (May 31, 2004 to be exact). I will likely make the 600 mile club in my 2012 on my current tank. My last fill-up was at 525 miles and was only 9.6 gallons, so I know I have more run room after the last pip starts to blink. Seems like the same pattern as what I had in the '04.

So, in theory if you just drive around that loop for an entire tank, you could get pretty close to the 1000 mile club.

Very likely because the loop picture I showed included 40 miles or so of my freeway commute which was worth only about 80mpg and the trip back from the loop to my house (8miles) which was worth only about 65-70mpg. And no I am not going to do that loop for 31hours!!! LOL.

hahahahahahah 31 hours to break a record, I will pay just to see it happen! OK so my ex wife steals all my money through the legal system, but I'll still pay to see it happen!

Sadly it wouldn't even break a record. The record is like 118mpg and I'm not sure I could do it even on that loop! Those Japanese folk are nuts!
