    Hello all!

I just purchased my brand new, first ever Prius and stumbled upon this forum. Looks like there is lots of great information here! I look forward to checking in often.

I have a "super white" 2009 package 2 Prius, and so far, I love it!!! I live in Columbia Maryland, and my other car is a 95 Honda Del Sol with 273000 miles, so I like to keep my cars for a long time. I traded in a 2000 Nissan Xterra for the Prius.

Yes, welcome to PriusChat. I received my Christmas present last year on December 26th (Package 5, 2008) and have enjoyed every minute of driving it since then. You'll find this site to be extremely helpful in terms of answering any questions you might have. Happy Holidays!

You've come to the place to get good, solid info on your new baby.

Got mine on out-of-state on Dec. 27, '07. It has been a year of learning and
getting better and better at taking full advantage of the Prius' high MPG
potential -- and learning about this car's idiosyncrasies, there are more than a
    few.

Time spent poking around PriusChat with the search tools is time well spent.
It is hard to think of a question or subject that isn't covered.

    Yes indeed, welcome to PriusChat.

    Rae Vynn,

    Thanks.

Time travel no, but there is something weird going on: as I drive the car the
Odo runs backwards, and every 400 miles or so I have to take gas out of the
    tank...

I should have named the car Merlin... but then I'd probably be "Wart."

    :D

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Although not the most expensive, you made one of the best financial investments. The Prius, if well maintained, will proide you well over 150,000 miles of pleasure, enjoyment, and adventure. If you haven't already noticed, your maintenance manual recommends oil changes and an occasional filter replacement for the first 100,000 miles! As time goes on you'll discover pleasant nuances and idiosyncracies of your Pri and learn how to make it work for you. Remember a Prius is not an ordinary auto and so what you're accustomed to will be different in a Prius, but that difference is not bad - it is in fact good!

    Congrats!

Welcome to PriusChat to you too.

When do expect your Prius to arrive? Color?

    Go Terps, indeed.

Thanks, Rokeby! I have a deposit down for a 2010 Prius (with the equivalent Package #3, whatever that will be). I'm anticipating an Oct/Nov 2009 delivery (crosses fingers)!

    Ooo! Smooth move.

Send me a PM when it arrives. I'd like to come over with Amapola, our '08 Touring
    and compare notes.

In the meantime, assuming that the HSD isn't overly different from the Gen II,
spending time here by digging around with the search tool will be time well
    spent.

    Stop, Look, Listen... and Learn!

I will certainly do that! Are you local? My wife and I are looking forward to it since we are moving from VWs. The repair rate should be a lot less frequent.
