Was getting bored with the prius, so I decided it was time to change it up. I wrapped the car in 3M Matte Gray Metallic, carbon fiber behind the emblems and blacked all the emblems out. Then updated the wheels a little bit. Wheels are 18" Forgestar CF-5s in matte gray, with Nitto Motivos 235/40/18. Springs are the Tein springs, only thing left is to put the front lip back on. Teaser shot until tonight when I can get some better pics of it.

EDIT UPDATE, here is one with better light.

Looks nice! What is the wheel width on the CF-5s? Did you wrap the vehicle yourself or did you source the install? That color looks great, makes me wish I saw the Gray Metallic offering instead of getting Matte Black.

Wheels are 8.5" and yes I did the wrap myself in my garage. It wasn't bad at all. The only thing that sucked was the hood, the rest of it went pretty easy. I have about $400 in material, and about 4 nights after work.

I haven't wrapped the front bumper yet. How difficult was that? I see the lower grill opening being difficult and not being able to cover it all in one section.

:) Good job Mr DIY. Very few can claim they "vinyl wrapped" their car. Strange color, looks neat. I would assume that's what a Prius would look like with radioactive dust on it. Won't be seeing two Prii the same as yours.

Same surprise here, I'm not normally a fan of matte finish or the monochrome look but Sandog53 knocked this one out of the park.

    Great work!

Sandog, if you have any pictures or videos of your work in progress or links to instructions on wrapping large areas, please post them.

That looks fantastic, I also have never been a fan of the matte finish, but this one is making me come around :) would Plasti Dip have been easier than the wrap?

Well, thought about the plasti-dip route, but decided on the vinyl route. Took pics along the way but not really during, as you almost need 3 hands anyways lol. It wasn't too bad, the vinyl is pretty easy to work with. Just buy good material. I used 3m 1080 Scothcal wrap vinyl. Take your time. I took off the handles and mirrors. Clean everything, and start small. I did the doors first, and I would take it to the car, fold it over and only peel half of the backing off and take my time. Hardest was the hood. A lot of different angles going on.

The front bumper I bought the knifeless cut tape, and cut in the lower grille area and around the headlights, then did the rest in one piece. Much easier that way.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I still need to get the front lip wrapped and put back on it, and a couple other small things, but am very happy with it. The deal with the forgestars came up and I couldn't pass it up, and with them being gray I knew it wasn't going to look good on a silver car, so I didn't hesitate and ordered the vinyl.
