Im 3 weeks into my new Prius and wondering if this is normal. When the engine switches over to electric from gas it feels that the engine cuts off abruptly, It seems this is normal but I want to reaffirm that it is. Thanks

Sounds normal. The engine burns off any residual fuel and turns if needed to stop in the optimal re-start position. I'll wager that you notice it only when the car is not moving?

It is also more pronounced on new engines and in cold weather.

I have the new engine, but as far as cold weather, south Florida not an issue.

It is a good thing to feel, it confirms the car HSD has moved into its most efficient state.
