    hi

i have been waiting to buy a prius over the past few years but could never make myself like the design of the exterior. but now, with gas prices killing me with my long commutes, i am taking the plunge and getting the prius for myself. now, if i purchase it tomorrow (3/31/07) , the 1575 tax credit applies to the 2006 return or 2007 return? meaning, do i have to wait till the next year tax filing season to get the 1575 credit?

thanks for answering this stupid question

See! You should have bought last year, when the credit was even higher!

IMHO, any tax saving is icing on the cake. You're helping to save the world, saving taxes is just an extra.

Welcome to the site. I'm still trying to get mine TO 50mpg. Sanity has its own rewards. :)

Congrats and don't worry about it. You'll be surprised. You're going to be so much more relaxed and calm on your commute now. And you'll find you don't really miss driving like a maniac.

Remember that if you know that you will qualify for the tax credit, you can change your withholdings now so that you can benefit from it all year rather than waiting to get a refund next year.

Guessed right, you will not. :D
You will be calmer, your blood pressure will be lower, you will be less anxious to get to a gas station; good overall health benefits, less $/mile AND you are helping the environment. :)
