I have the Prius 4 2012 and recently change the headlight to 6000K HID.

I want to add extra fog light to use it during at night. What is my option? Should I just add the aftermarket one?

You can follow the fog light link in my signature. There are plenty of kits out there, one here on this site and many @ ebay.

    Welcome aboard by the way!

the 2012 is different tho.. the fog lights are in the grill.. so the lower grill will likely need to be replaced.. the 2010-2011 fog light kits (like the OEM) all go in the bumper under the turn signals.. thats where the 2012 DRLs are.

Hopefully someone will come out with a 2012 kit that includes a lower grill replacement

I was wondering how much your HIDs cost and how much was it to install them? Also do you have a link where you got them? I was considering changing mine but I'm scared of getting pulled over because of the brightness and heard its illegal in CA

Upgrade to projector fog lights. They have a very clean cutoff line which won't blind on coming traffic and get cops attention. Easy install..
Regular fog lights are like flash lights with a wide open lens that blinds on coming traffic... Even more so if you put HIDs.
Google.... The retrofit source (blazer fog lights)

Why couldn't a Fellow go to local Dealer and order the lower grill insert for the 2012 and add the Factory lights might that be a idea...? I like that Factory look and no I wouldn't go buying after market lights and mounting on front that'd be tacky do it right....me anyway

I've looked into adding factory fog lights to the 2012 model. It appears the lower grill is all that would have to be replaced, at a cost of about $160. The aftermarket 2010-> foglight kit that is available in the PC marketplace would then be used to add the lights, wiring, switch etc.. You just don't use the bezel that the kit comes with for the previous model. See attached: 53112E is the part number u need. If it's a Prius PHV then it will be another part number and more expensive.

The only problem is you are spending a lot of money for very little gain in light. If you are doing it for aesthetics then go for it. Fog lights do not project light down the road and so are of little use in 99% of driving situations. They actually reduce long distance vision because they increase light directly in front of the car causing retinal contraction.

Are you sure the fog light from the 2010-2011 kit fits in the new grill? What I mean is the new grille designed for this lamp housing or are you thinking of rigging it to make it fit?

The great thing about the OE 2010-2011 fog light is it can be retrofitted to house a Blazer projector foglight or similar sized Hella unit that will accept HIDs. This allows you to color match with the headlights if those have HIDs.

Im not 100% sure, but the parts guy at my local dealer told me the 2012 shares the same fog lights with the previous 2010-11. They don't fit into the grill. They fit into a housing behind the grill, in the front fascia, that is there on all models (see it in the scan above also). The housing has the attaching spots for the fog lights, like the previous years, but doesn't need the bezel.. That's why I think the PC kit will work.

Gotcha. It makes sense. I really hope this is the case. I would add the foglights just because they look cool. :)

You're welcome to my Yaris kit I got if I don't use it. I got the Projector ebay Yaris ones mounted into the bezel for my car this weekend. The weather actually played nice today, but I was feeling complacent. And, with a chance of rain, we both know what would have happened the moment I got the undercover taken apart.....

Exactly! Maybe I'll get it done next weekend, if I'm not working downstairs putting in the trim and grouting the tile.

I do have some pictures of the lights attached to the bezels. I posted in the retrofit thread out there. And, TRS expects the Blazers in around Tuesday.

My hardest part of this will be finding a flat surface with a building to make sure the lights are aimed well.

My parts dealer also told me the same thing. The fogs are the same & the bumper has the mounts. The grill will need to be replaced & comes unpainted. I'm wondering if Danny will sell the 10-11 fog light kit w/o the bezels so we can just use the fogs, wiring & switch.

On a side note......has anybody chked to see if the 2012 Prius is pre-wired? I took off my lower dash panel looking for the flasher relay & saw a green connector (looks just like the plug in the 10-11 kit) taped up with the mirror control switch.

    So anyone do this yet?

New grill from a Prius five and the 2010-2011 Prius Chat store OEM Style fogs should do it right?

I would love to have HID 5000K low beams and amber fogs.
