has anyone found a true trim plate for a double din aftermarket HU yet? I am planning on putting in a Kenwood DNX9140. I know based on some of their posts, rrolff, frenchie and a few others have bought the one from Sheffield Toyota on ebay that has a slightly (20mm) wider hole than a standard double din and filled in the sides . I also know that there is a kit you can get on ebay that fills in the sides of that trim plate. I'd prefer to not have to go this route if possible without waiting forever. The Metra 95-8202 can actually be bought at Best Buy and others which may be useful to someone who'd like an easy way to return it should it not work.
Will any double din HU fit in the 2010 Prius? The issue is just the trim piece, right? I would like to get a new double din HU without Nav but still have a screen for video. Anyone have suggestions? Nobody (Crutchfield, Bestbuy, etc doesn't seem to have anything for the 2010 yet). TIA
Here's an update on my research: I emailed Crutchfield to see if they had an ETA for when any trim plates would be available and here was the response: no kidding! That was why I asked for an ETA if they had one. argggggg, not exactly one of their more steller responses :frusty: I also asked a local installer to see what he could dig up and that dude actually called Metra. Metra's response was that it will most likely be February before they had a trim plate / install kit available. Bummer, but at least it's on the horizon. He did call another supplier but they did not get back to him. So it looks like the Sheffield Toyota OEM trim plate off of Ebay and the Metra piece for me since i'd like to get this done soon. Thanks to georgew for the Best Buy pointer. Most likely as long as you don't get anything whose depth size is huge. If you search /dig back a few pages here you'll see that Frenchie installed two different 2-din aftermarket HU's - a Kenwood and a Pioneer. Yes they were both nav HUs, but the 2-din video only HUs from these MFG's have same exterior dimensions which is 180mmx100mm. Examples of vid only HUs that fit are the Kenwood DDX514 or the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD.
I have the same issue. Im looking at the Avic-z110BT so that I can use the talk button on the steering wheel. I want to voice call with my steering controls.
