Is anyone else getting anxious for metra (or anyone else) to come out with a mounting kit for the 2010's? I am so bummed that my Pioneer Navi is sitting in a box. I can't wait to be able to install the navi with the bluetooth & backup cam. I pulled these out of my 2008 Sonata when I bought my Prius but I can't believe how much I'm missing them. I looked at the factory Navi but no thanks I'm spoiled by my Pioneer. Same with Garmin ... they are ok but can't wait to get back to my Pioneer.

I know this is a decidedly low-tech solution but it works well for me:

GPS PAL - Cup Holder Mount for GPS Units

I find that if you wrap the bottom in a shop rag or thick paper towel, it fits snugly in the main cupholder. It also fits perfectly in the auxiliary cupholder. It's priced a little high for a little piece of plastic but it does what it does, quite well.

I was a little confused at first, but I understood the question to be about installing an in-dash Pioneer Navi unit. If not, maybe the OP can clarify.

I think you may be right. Now that you think about it, I don't think Pioneer makes standalone GPS's and a regular head unit would look pretty dopey sitting in a cupholder.

    "Never mind."

Well I hadn't seen a cup holder mount before (I guess I don't get out much :() so your link might still be helpful to others.

It would be cool to have one that detached from the headunit & you could take it with you but there is a little problem with that. I had an Avic-D3 (dvd based) in our Scion & loved it so much we decided to get a newer version for our Soata so we got a Avic-f900bt (hard drive based). The hard drive unit would take over a mile of driving before it would be ready to go & it would take at lease a few blocks before it would even play music. We traded out 900 for another older dvd based model. Since then I have heard Pioneer came up with a flash update where the hard drive units no longer take so long to initalize but I already have the dvd based unit in both my cars so I don't know if that's true. So anyways ... unless an indash unit that runs on a dvd becomes detachable I'll stick with indash only. Although still cool to be able to take the face & have an indash & portable gps all in one.
