Great now some other totally dumb reason for people to discredit global warming..... Al Gore's son smokes pot and speeds!!!!

At least he was doing all that in a Prius, way to stay green while smokin' the green.

Finally, clear proof that global warming is a myth perpetrated by the liberal intelligentsia. I knew it...

I thought Rupert was finally coming over and that the clearly biased coverage on Fox would at least be shifting its bias. Appears the memo hasn't quite circulated to everyone.

errrrrr.... I hate to be picky, but the news report doesnt mention a Prius anywhere.

Al Gore's son arrested on drug suspicion

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. - Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.

"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.

Gore was being held in the men's central jail in Santa Ana on $20,000 bail.

Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for his parents, did not immediately return phone messages to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee also was pulled over and arrested for pot possession in December 2003, in Bethesda, Md., while he was a student at Harvard University.

He completed substance abuse counseling as part of a pretrial diversion program to settle those charges.

The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children and their only son, Gore lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine about philanthropy aimed at young people.

I wonder what the hell kind of mileage you get at 100mph? Why, if you want to drive that fast, would you buy a Prius? The ICE, the suspension..... She can't take it, captain! If youve got that kind of money, want to go really fast, and are trying to be environmental, buy a damn Tesla...

Oh yeah... It's also REALLY REALLY STUPID to drive in a way that you will get pulled over when you've got a bunch of drugs in the car...

Seems to be a trend though... Maybe he wants to party with Lindsay and Paris?

A reader comment in the local fish wrapper's on line edition:
"A Prius going 100mph? Come on."

Just curious, but do you think the antics of the Bush twins reflects on their father's performance?

Just what I was thinking. Only I was thinking.....now there's proof positive the Prius can GO. At least the bashers can't say the car is pokey or slow.

Well, the really bad thing about this is that it's not an "offense against the United States". Sadly, if convicted, Bush does not have the power to grant Gore III a pardon or reprieve.

The governor could do it, though. They're probably trying to talk him into it as we speak.

Not available yet. And the waiting list is already a year long, counting from when they actually begin production, which I think will be this year, but we don't really know. So for reckless speeding in a pro-environmental manner, the Prius is still your best bet.

A few posters here on PC have reported taking their Priuses up to 105 mph, and I think one claimed 106. If their speedometers are like mine, that's probably really closer to 103.

Hopefully this doesn't somehow impact Gore's decision to run in 2008.

"About" 100mph or about innocent until proven guilty.

Maybe Al III didn't know about that secret drawer . . .

    or the police did.

I heard this story on the Ed Schultz show, and he said, "I can't believe a Prius was going 100 mph- I might get me one." So this may be bad publicity for Al Gore, but it may sell a few more Priuses. :)
