Is the pop up blocker in your browser enabled? For the record, I don't see any from this site or any notices that one is blocked.

I had that problem when using Google's Chrome browser today. I thought the program had become corrupted after viewing a link posted on Priuschat so I uninstalled the browser. Right now I'm using Firefox 3 with a script blocker and am having no problems with that error message showing up.

Re: Get Rid of that Pop-up!!!

A quick google indicates that there is a bug in safari 3, and I guess chrome, which doesn't implement the beforeunload method correctly. This method is meant to prevent premature or accidental loss of form data before you hit the submit button. The clue is the dialog box has "false" in place of a helpful text string. So I suspect Danny has improved his code by incorporating the beforeunload method or maybe not. I could be wrong. It's been known to happen. Perhaps someone could patch around that feature for non-compliant browsers?

Re: Get Rid of that Pop-up!!!

I just started getting the pop-up tonight. It comes up when I click on certain links and when I try to close a priuschat page that is on a tab. I've tried Safari 3 and Safari 4 beta on Mac OS X with Block Pop-Up Windows enabled.

P.S., the pop-up also came up when I clicked on "Preview Post".

I've got it too, on Refresh, Reply, close a tab, close a window, View New
Posts, Submit Reply, etc. All with the imbedded, "false." Very irritating.

    I'm running Safari 3.2.1

I have no pop-ups from PriusChat using Firefox, not even a warning banner on top. Normally when a window wants to pop up, Firefox will give me a barely noticeable warning.

Re: Get Rid of that Pop-up!!!

Danny - Please, please fix this ASAP, for all us Safari users. I'm running Safari 4 beta. This just started happening yesterday. Does not happen with Firefox. While you're at it, maybe you could fix the Firefox problem of not updating (debolding) after viewing a thread and returning to the new posts list. Thanks.

This thread will be a poll of how many people use Safari or Chrome.

    New (annoying) Forum Behavior

Starting today I observed a new behavior on this forum. I usually open a new sub-forum in a new tab in the browser and then open individual threads in their own new tabs. Until today, closing any tab was a simple matter of closing that tab. But now, every time I attempt to close a tab I get a message asking if I really want to do that. So, it now takes two steps to do what used to take only one step. Is there a way of setting some preference to eliminate this annoying behavior?

    RRP,
Another thread is ongoing. Seems to be a problem with either Safari or Chrome (or presumably any webkit based browser ?).

Sounds like a browser issue, I have no issues closing individual PC tabs using FF3. Check your browser settings, perhaps they've changed since an automatic update or something.

I am using Safari (as SageBrush suggested) and there have been no changes to the browser or to its preference settings. I'm pretty sure that something was changed on the Prius Chat forum in the last day or so. Since my original post, I notice that I get that request for confirmation any time I try to exit a tab or a page on this site. I've been to many other sites this morning and no others exhibit this behavior.

I won't deny that it's possible that it's a PC issue, but Danny is on vacation and hasn't really been doing anything with the forums for the past week or so and non of us mods have permission to make any changes that would do anything like that.

Maybe there was some sort of automated server update. Not sure Danny completely controls the host server. In any case, the behavior does not occur on any other website and has been reported by several safari users (including me) and one chrome user. Guess I'll have to use Firefox at home for awhile, which of course has the non-updating of the viewed posts problem. And now for browser no. 3 .....
