My Mom lives in NJ and I live in CA. I'm her usual tech support. But I'm over my head trying to figure out what's up with her machine via phone.

Does anyone know of any good, small, reasonably priced PC repair place near Somerset or New Brunswick, NJ?

    Many Thanks!

If she can still get on the Internet (hopefully fast connection, though probably dial up)- you can try the free version of Logmein.com which lets you get on her computer just like it was in front of you and do what you need to do to get it running. The free version does not allow you to transfer files, but I use email for that one or two files as needed.

    Just a suggestion.

If it's an XP machine, you could talk her through enabling remote desktop, and then get her IP and just log in through that - something i do on a very regular basis for my mom when she needs help.

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately, it won't even boot up now.

does she have any contacts at rutgers? I'm sure there must be some students who either do repairs or know of places-
also best buy stores here have started doing repairs , etc with their "geek" squad....how old is it?

    good luck!
