With the recent issue with the floor mats being blamed for the most recent accident and recall, has anyone taken delivery of a Prius and what did the dealership do with the driver floor mat? I have heard that they are to install a zip tie but wanted to hear of what anyone may have experienced.

I expect to take delivery of a Prius V within the next couple of weeks.

Pretty sure the 2010 Prius is not part of the recall that you mentioned below.

I took delivery of a Barcelona Red IV yesterday. My dealership in Southern California gave me two choices, and asked me to sign a piece of paper indicating which route I went.

Either 1) They could install the mats for me with a zip tie, probably making a small incision in the mall to secure it to the seat post, or 2) They could put the driver's mat in the trunk and let me wait until Toyota came out with their recommended solution.

I chose #2, drove off the lot, then a short time later, I put the mat back in. Honestly, the 2010 mat is cut differently (smaller) from the 2004 mat, so I can't imagine this will be a problem. But when Toyota comes out with their fix, I'll go back in to the dealer to get it done.

I picked up my V one week ago. The dealer said that they can't sell the all weather mats set I ordered. So they refunded me the cost.:(

I think this is typical US legal idioticy. Floor mats have always been dangerous if not correctly installed. The new ones are so small now they don't protect the floor as well. But they would have a hard time interferring with the accelerator.

I think the zip lock tabs are Toyota's sarcastic way of fixing an issue that it seems like they are being singled out on.

(I wonder if the Sequoia all weather mats are being recalled. I use them in my Expedition, but could use a new set)

Mine came with the floor hooks installed to secure the front mats.

Again as stated above the 2010 Prius was not involved in the floor mat recall.

    ALS;

Mine also came equipped with the Floor Hooks installed (purchased car 8/4/2009), there was also a second set of hooks in a bag in the Cargo Organizer.

The Toyota All Weather Mats have the slots that the Floor Hooks fit into already in place on the mats.

MAKE CERTAIN your dealer installs these Hooks on the Driver's side floor and that the mats have been hooked!

I take delivery of my BP IV on Thursday. The dealer called back and said no all-weather floor mats would be sold. I ordered mats off the forum. I waited approximately 40 days and gave a choice of two colors.

With gas prices on the rise, I'm really looking forward to Thursday!!! Thanks to all who post here. You are such a big Help!!!

My new Prius didn't come with any floor mats -- they would cost $220!! The salesperson recommended buying some elsewhere, which is what I did. I now have floor mats from Pep Boys.

The accelerator is so high on the 2010 that I can't see how a floor mat would possibly get onto it. I assume they raised and shortened the accelerator in the Gen III to make it nearly impossible for floor mat problems to arise again.

I got my car yesterday and the salesman said he was surprised that they sold me the floor mats, even though the drivers mat has the hooks. He said some people stack 1 or more mats on each other so Toyota is just being really cautious right now.

I ordered my Prius with all weather Floormats. Dealer told me that the mats were taken out and will be replaced with regular mats. Dealer will NOT install them and will put them in the trunk so that the new owner is responsible installing them.

Anyway October 31 is the day to pick her up. A Blue Prius V with Nav.

Since Toyota blamed many otherwise-unexplained "unexpected" acceleration problems
on the mats (instead of their firmware), now they have to (pretend to) "fix" the mats.

I'm taking delivery on Saturday. The dealer cannot sell or order all-weather mats so I am getting carpeted mats but with the all-weather cargo mat. I will order mats from WeatherTech. They are probably better quality anyway.
